( On the subject of flood story)

However you look at it --- myth or otherwise, made-up, true, false, guesswork, assumptions, hypotheticals, junk theology, twisting the facts, outright lying, literal interpretation of the Scriptures, figurative interpretation of the Scriptures, cult explanations, philosophies, crackpots, cracked pots, or crock pots; I know one thing:

Science didn't do it.

I love the sense of dramatic pause there.

I think he's saying

Well, science never flooded the earth! So ha!

Oh, wow. Nice move. I'm amazed.

Not.

You really are a retard.

I'll say it slowly and perhaps you might understand:

There...
was...
no...
flood...
that...
covered...
the...
Earth.

I don't think science ever claimed to flood the earth...

For once, we agree on something, AV. Of course, your idea for why science didn't do it is because you believe God did it, while my reason is because IT NEVER HAPPENED!

1/2/2008 9:18:53 AM

Science doesn't make anything. They try to find out the truth and explain the world as it is. And sorry, the flood hasn't got many partisans.

Of course science didn't do it, science says it never fucking happened at all!

You're right, in a roundabout way. Science didn't do it; the people who soberly applied science to the hypothesis, determined that a single global-scale flood did not and could not ever happen.

1/2/2008 12:13:19 PM

anevilmeme

Science simply shows no such flood took place, next?

We're INNOCENT! Sweet vindication!

The argument against the flood is easy if you're willing to read real books and listen to actual geologists. Unfortunately, most fundies are unwilling to do this. So, why not pose the argument of the repopulation of the animals instead. How the holy hell did Noah manage to collect and return animals to the continents of America, Australia, and Antarctica before those continents had even been discovered by Western people? No fundie has ever had an answer to this except to say "Oh, God is great and can accomplish anything." Not an answer!

Science didn't do what no one ever claimed science did?

Uh, ok.

After weeks of intensive searching, I'm pretty sure AV is a Poe.
I've been going back over his posts, and lately they seem self-defeating in a manner only achieved by the truly incoherent or the intentionally absurd.

Of course, he could just be a raving nutter. I'll have to do more research to find out.

What point is he trying to make?

This is true. God didn't either. It didn't happen. It is flat out impossible to reach the numbers we have with the restraints it gives.
