Quote# 331

:::sigh:: no one can prove evolution either, or anything else... 'cause we can't go back in time and observe the beginning or re-create it or whatever else. but if you look around at the intricacies of everything i think that you'll realize that it didn't happen by chance, and in fact there is historical proof, aka the Bible, that all that did occur. go ahead and set out in the world to disprove it 'cause you can't...

It is not a fact that the Bible is historical proof of creation, or much else for that matter.
I *did* look around and apparently you think wrong. I do not accept that natural selection is chance. Natural selection has no design but it selects for those traits which confer greater survivability of a species; those traits which do not are eliminated. The mutation of DNA is by chance, but the selection process is not.

Well actually, Hinduism preceded the Abrahamic religions by a considerable margin, so they obviously are the ones you cannot disprove their Creation myth without going back in time right?

No, the burden of proof falls on the one making the extraordinary claim (i.e., the claim that contradicts observable reality). Good luck with that.

I always find it amusing how "Were you there to so it? NO I DIDN'T THINK SO!" is a valid argument against evolution, but strangely, not against creationism...

Evolution is not about the beginning, so whether or not we can go back to beginning doesn't matter.
Evolution is not chance, it's trial and error.
Evolution has been observed in laboratories, many times.
The Bible is neither historical nor proof of anything other than the existence of the Bible.

No, you can't disprove it, but you can't prove the Bible with anything other than the Bible.

Y'know what x akasean x, the theory of gravity which affects matter doesn't have to provide an origin for matter in order to be valid, kinda like evolution (change over time, common descent with modification) and its effects on living things doesn't have to provide an origin for life to demonstrate its effects on living things.

Furthermore, Genesis is not an historical document but rather a mythical creation story like those told in other primitive iron age cultures (Greek, Nordic, Chinese, etc) whose participants would have had just as a little a clue about the origins of the Earth and the Universe as the writers of the bible. For crying out loud, the extent of the whole universe to those people extended out to the fucking horizon line separating the sky from the sea (it doesn't even really exist as anything more than an illusion brought about by such a limited perspective of someone on the ground). I'm sure none of this will ever manage to sink in, but hey, I can't be blamed for not trying.

Evoloution has been observed outside the lab to, on many species, including Humans.

I know, right? Because they weren't there at any of the events in the Bible, but believe them anyways. Wouldn't this also make all crime scene investigation methods bunk because the investigators weren't there when it happend? In fact, by this guy's logic, nothing we remember is true because it's not happening right now.
