If it were not for the great Grace of God - there would be unimaginable plagues - no restraining of viruses or bacteria - which is part of the wonderful love of God in our present world. Back in the summer one of the bridges in Minneapolis fell in - with hundreds killed and injured. John Piper ( whose church is in Minneapolis) said God “caused” the bridge to collapse. What a fiery response there was to those comments! It is hard to understand how saying God was absent and the bridge just collapsed by itself is glorifying to God or helpful in any way. It has been reported since then that over 100 bridges have the same defects. Piper is absolutely correct and biblical in saying that the collapse of that bridge was the kindness of God. He is warning people everywhere that death is at the door and eternity is revealed and men everywhere need to repent. He has in his Grace only ordained that 1 bridge collapse. He is keeping those other 100+ bridges in place, otherwise they would ALL collapse.

black death, bubonic plague, inflenza pandemics, ebola: yep, the big man certainly is looking out for us!!
But at first sight, not sure whether the site is a pile of poe or not; it feels fundie, but the tongue is firmly wedged where it shouldn't be!
So, we still have inimaginable plagues, viri, bacteriae and many other problems that we have mitigated in part, thanks to the human research, so what?. Are you saying that God is "selective" with them or what?. And about those bridges, they're built by humans so?. That John Piper selectively never read Jesus in Matt(those who were killed in the Temple are guilty of NOTHING)or the Book of Job. Moreover, he is absolutely stupid. Why one bridge yes, others no?. Why can't he accept that natural phenomena is..............natural?, that accidents happen?. Because if he wanted to do what you claim, he would be killing people every single day and preventing us to find the cure.

Yeah, I can't tell if it's poe or not. I really hope so. But that's the point of Poe's Law, right? You know there's some wingnut out there who actually believes this pile of merde.
All I have to say is: gee, thanks a lot, God. No offense, but surely an omniscient, omnipotent deity could do a bit better than this?
So, in effect, the only evidence of god you are presenting is that plagues, viruses, disasters and catastrophes are not as bad as they could be?
What marvelous evidence of his existence it would be if those same plagues, viruses, disasters and catastrophes simply disappeared.
Hell, I'd settle for just one but I'm not about to hold my breath.
What's hundreds of people killed to Dave Rollins as long as he's not one of them?
Empathy and sympathy does not exist in Christian mythology since god does everything. It's god's sandbox, we're just droppings that sit there and are disposed of when he feels like it.
In other words, love God or God will kill hundreds more with collapsing bridges.
Rollins, God would like to see you out back.
Nice way to overlook bad maintaince and bad government, that did not protect people when the bridge was faulty.
I remember Putney Railway Bridge in London was damaged when a boat hit it. For years in was repaired and trains had to go slow, that is what is supposed to happen when a bridge is damaged, peopler are informed and it is fixed, even if it makes people later for work.
And I am share the people of the Twin Cities will be reassured to know all their bridges are in a state of negligent ill-repair.
So, in other words:
* Diseases and plagues = evidence of God.
* Lack of diseases and plagues = evidence of God.
* Bridges falling = evidence of God.
* Bridges not falling = evidence of God.
Somebody needs to explain to David Rollins exactly why this is a load of bovine fecal matter -- that is, if they can penetrate his Force Field of Ignorance.
~David D.G.
Science is the good guy in the fight against epidemics.
Official negligence caused the bridge collapse. It may be luck with the other bridges, or perhaps they were designed better.
"g0d Strikes Again" category.
"...with hundreds killed and injured ..."
Actually, 13 died. But since when has a fundie ever let the truth get in the way of lying for Jebus?
Thank you David, this is what we call an Appeal to consequences . It's a logical fallacy, of course, but don't let that stop you.
By the way, you're not making a great case for your god.

Neither. The ~100 bridges with this structural defect were all bound to collapse sooner or later -- this bridge just happened to be the first.
The real "luck" here was that the engineers inspecting the crashed bridge were bright enough to realize that other bridges existed with the same defect before those other bridges collapsed, too.
So, it's OK that God creates plagues and other huge, deadly disasters, as long as he doesn't make them absolutely as bad as he can?
It's a parody of a real church. Check out the very top of the linked page:
This website is a parody of City Bible Church. We are not owned or operated by Frank Damazio or affiliated with City Bible Church. Please do not send us your tithe.
If it was not for my magical lion-scaring sticks, which I clap together at sunrise and sunset, there would be unimaginable attacks by lions on me. I've NEVER been attacked by any lion, so of course it is proven that these sticks work.
No God : At roulette, one out of 38 times somebody wins by pure chance
God : One out of 38 times, God decides you deserve to win and makes the roulette ball drop onto the number you chose.
=============================================================
No God : One out of a 100+ bridges collapses by pure chance.
God : 100+ bridges are kept in place, but He lets one of them collapse just to warn us to repent because the end is near.

Fundies claim they can tell the difference.
Gasp! I'm convinced! God is good! But waitaminute, if I change God to ibn Ladin...
Back in the summer two skyscrapers collapsed in NYC - with thousands killed and injured. The US Government said ibn Ladin caused the towers to collapse. What a fiery response there was to those comments! It has been reported since then that over 100 skyscrapers have the same vulnerability to planes. The US government is absolutely correct and biblical in saying that the collapse of those towers was the kindness of Usama. He is warning people everywhere that death is at the door and eternity is revealed and men everywhere need to repent. He has in his Grace only ordained that 2 towers collapse. He is keeping those other 100+ skyscrapers in place, otherwise, if he attacked them, they would ALL collapse.
OMG! Cancel the War on Terror and impeach teh bush! Usama is actually a good guy!
It's a Poe?
Really?
Because, um, David Rollins is my stepdad.
He practically worships John Piper, and this is exactly something he would say. The entire thread.
For reals.
Maybe he didn't know that he was on a parody site? It seemed like the conversation was serious enough, all right. As you might have guessed, he's really into all the technical minutae about religion - like, it's okay to hate your kids, as long as you can defend the belief of double predestination, or something.
I'm sure there's more than one David Rollins in the world, but this is honestly just...uncanny.
The funny (sad?) thing is, I was in Minnesota visiting my brother when the bridge collapsed. And if I had been one of the "hundreds killed," he would have felt the exact same way. Oh, he was also having that conversation on my birthday.
Wow. Just wow. Nothing like surfing the FSTDT and finding your stepdad (maybe).
That's interesting, I always thought our complex adaptive immune systems combined with natural selection as well as modern medicine and vaccines were the reason why we don't have unimaginable plagues, but clearly if you think it is God that must be the answer!
"If it were not for the great Grace of God - there would be unimaginable plagues - no restraining of viruses or bacteria - which is part of the wonderful love of God"
But according to you, God created everything, including those viruses and bacteria. So thanks God, for saving us from yourself.
Yeah, good ol' God. Just imagine what sorta things would happen without him!
Except, by your logic, we wouldn't exist without your God.
And, if we take his punctuation at face value (risky thing where Intarweb fundies are concerned), unimaginable plagues are PART of God's wonderful love!
Praise be to God!
I think it's satirical, like the Landover Baptists. It was the "tithe, tithe, tithe" motto that gave it away for me.
I'm gonna shoot one out of every five people, once per week, until my demands are met. REPENT!!!!
What nonsense. Only the religious would call not killing EVERY hostage "grace" or "kindness".
If it were not for the great Grace of God - there would be unimaginable plagues - no restraining of viruses or bacteria - which is part of the wonderful love of God in our present world.
So does that mean God took a vacation in the middle ages? If a plague that kills a third of the population of Europe isn't an "unimaginable plague", I don't know what is.
Could God not just, perhaps, send an email, or make a phone call to tell us this kind of thing? Hell, even a burning bush might be helpful.
God has the perfect PR management, if something bad happens "he works in mysterious ways", but if something good happens "it's a blessing".
They don't see their own hypocrisy, it's kinda like this :
"You mean millions of people are going to die ?", the fundamentalist asked.
"Yes", said a figment of his imagination.
"Yay !", he answered.
Since when is human death a good thing ? Maybe I smoke too much, or too little.
Act of God, Act of God....
Why are all his acts so destructive? I mean! Why couldn't he just come out on stage and juggle? Or pull a rabbit out of a hat? Or tell a few good jokes?
At this rate, he should've been "gonged" long ago.
God makes bridges collapse
God makes bridges to last
Damn, why we need engineers if God makes bridges last?
Lets just throw some junk over water and pray that God will keep it still...
I wish this guy was a Poe, I really, really do. Except..... he's my stepdad. Guess he didn't know this was City Business Church was a parody. But yeah, this is 100% the real deal.
So check me on this. The assertion is that hundreds were killed or injured in order to alert engineers to a flaw in other bridges? God, master of the universe, the being of unequaled, unparalleled, infinite knowledge and wisdom could not just send a text message to somebody? An email? A fax? All this fucktard god can think of is killing people?
"If it were not for the great Grace of God - there would be unimaginable plagues - no restraining of viruses or bacteria - which is part of the wonderful love of God in our present world."
Care to explain the Smallpox Eradication Project, from 1950 to 1980?
If that doesn't prove that scientists are superior to God, I don't know what does.
If your God was really benevolent, wouldn't he just have made a giant glowing sign that said, "Hey, these bridges are in bad shape," instead of killing or injuring anybody?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
