There are many replicated peer reviewed studies which show that the overwhelming majority of people choose theism when they know they are dying. Keyboard false bravado notwithstanding.

I love the note at the end.
"Well, I've been diagnosed with cancer, and I'm still an--"
"YOU SAID IT ON THE INTERNET IT DOESN'T COUNT."
Which, even if true, would do absolutely nothing to prove the existence of any god, let alone yours.
Even if it were true, the only thing that would be proven would be a certain characteristic of human psychology.
Lets turn the tables and show the absurdity of all these "There are no atheists in foxholes"-type arguments, and why these "arguments" are a classical non sequitur:
"A significant majority of people starts alcohol abuse when facing a seemingly hopeless situation in life. Ergo: Alcohol solves problems!" This is the same as:
"A significant majority of people starts to believe in a higher power when facing a seemingly hopeless situation in life. Ergo: God exists!"
A) You're a fucking liar.
B) At one point people overwhelmingly believed that bathing made you more susceptible to diseases. Before that, they believed that disease was caused by low level demonic possession. Your goal as a sapient being is supposed to be the surpassing of your forbears' knowledge. Not the matching of it.
“Keyboard false bravado notwithstanding.”
Seven years ago i was being prepped for the surgery they needed to perform before they could perform the surgery to take out my gall bladder. Stoned to the gills on painkillers.
Wife says that the hospital chaplain walked in. We talked about my new Teddy bear for a while, and my pain, and my atheism. THen she asked if she could pray for me before my surgery. I politely asked her not to.
So, high on the good shit, all my filters and bravado dead-faced, facing a pretty scary procedure where they cracked me open… I still would rather take my chances without your superstition.
Also, been on the sub, under the water, with a flooding casualty. Stone-cold convinced i was going to die. never prayed.
So take your dismissive assumption and shove it up your unsourced assertion.
Confused?
