Quote# 3359

This begs the question, doesn't it? If we are examining the existence [and origin of] of languages based solely on what we have in front of us, I know of no studies which show, empirically, that human language develops as the human brain develops.

Um, you know...we have a logical fallacy just for that -- it's called begging the question.

I saw this quote of mine on here awhile back, and the link back to the context did not work. This comment was a long time ago, but I believe the context was that it was being argued that neanderthals and other pre-historical humans had language capacities in proportion to the development of their brain. If that was the case, as I think it was, then no empirical evidence can exist, because the material that could demonstrate it is all PRE-HISTORICAL. In otherwords, the arguer I was responding to was just talking out of his arse. That is much better than I can say about the people commenting to the quote here. They falsify my argument, don't they? Here I am thinking we don't have any neanderthals to test language development, and three of them post right here. Ironic.

If any of you yahoos wish to try to defend your stupid remarks, you're welcome to saunter over to my forums at www.sntjohnny.com/phpbb

Nope still lost.

You are aware Neandethals were a different species?

You are aware that when you're talking about cognitive development, it's generally talking about individuals in their infancy?

You are aware that homo sapiens have been on this planet for hundreds of thousands of years?

You are aware realising the brain does the thinking is a relatively recent concept? (About the time they worked out beheadings were useful)

Above does appear you think there is no correlation between human language and the human brain. Did the language precede the development? Could we teach mice to speak Japanese? Dogs to draw Kanji?

There are also no studies that support most of the bible, what is your point?

It's called ignorance.

I know of no studies which show, empirically, that human language develops as the human brain develops.

There is a case where a new language developed in an isolated group of people, mostly "out of nothing". It is still controversial, but this might be evidence for the innate language capability of the human brain:
