It's so sad to know Dr. Kent Hovind is in jail. He stood up for his beliefs and that alone is admirable. Satan, which runs the United States & the world, hates Kent because he is waking up so many people to the lies of evolution and bringing people to Christ. Kent taught about the New World Order and secret societies, topics the elite government don't want you to know about. I support Kent Hovind and his ministry 100% and will continue to pray for Kent and his family. It breaks my heart to know how brutal and evil our government really is. God will judge all of those who were involved in putting him in jail. Who would've thought America would be so ungodly, ignorant and unfair.

"Who would've thought America would be so ignorant and unfair."
Wow that sounds like something a normal person would say
"Satan, which runs the United States"
"Who would've thought America would be so ungodly"
Proof, surely, that fundies just throw words around without thinking about meanings or putting any consistancy into their arguments.
"He stood up for his beliefs and that alone is admirable"
Yes, the ferocity with which he defied tax laws impressed me too.
"the United States & the world"
Terrifying that you seem to think that the two are completly different things.
Though now that I read it in chunks like this, I think this could be a poe.
One cannot miss, when touring this site, the parts of the forum where they blame "the Jews" who "control" Wikipedia for refusing to allow them to astroturf the Kent Hovind article with links to their site.
This is a whole new level of crazy. I guess there's three types of people: us (the sane), the evil government, and these guys--the batshit crazy. :(
Driving the Crazy Train award?
I wish I knew where these people lived so I could 'Preach the Word' all their valuables...
And their credit cards. Think of all the 'Preaching the Word' I could do with their credit cards.
'Course I bet they'd still try to have me arrested. Damned hypocrites.
Kent Hovind is in jail because he did not "render unto Caesar that which is Ceaser's" foo!
Tax fraud is illegal. Unless you can prove that Kent Hovind did not commit tax fraud, stfu.
Apparently fraud and tax evasion are perfectly acceptable conduct in Christianity, right?
And you have the nerve to accuse nontheists of being amoral.
Yes, how dare the government demand taxes from him. After all, he was only doing the Lord's work, which is very expensive.
Behold his museum theme park church.

"He stood up for his beliefs and that alone is admirable."
Maybe, but it's not christian.
Romans 13:6 (NIV) - "This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing."
"Satan, which runs the United States & the world"
Wait, so you're saying the god of the bible and Satan are one and the same person?
Romans 13:1 (NIV) - "Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."
God was certainly listening to all those prayers...
Oh.
It seems he wasn't.
He only listened to the one about getting Kent a good seat on the bus.
But when your arse is in the sorry state that Kent's arse must be in, you thank heaven for the smallest of mercies.
Hovind's first mistake is figuring that the IRS folks are as gullible as his sheep.
Second, he made this reeeeally lame attempt to rewrite tax law in his favor, on the fly.
Third, and most importantly, he is an unrepentant greedhead.
He stood up for his beliefs ...
What beliefs are those? That everyone should pay taxes except him? That his employees are "volunteers" that he slips money to out of the goodness of his heart and therefore doesn't have to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for them?
His conviction had nothing to do with his religious beliefs. His trial never got into any of that. Ken Ham and a whole host of other hard core Biblical creationists who say many of the same things have never been bothered by the government. The Institute for Creation Research has a museum, too, and no one there has been jailed for tax evasion. The US has tax laws and Hovind violated them. He did it knowingly, lied about it and was given many chances to just shut up and pay, but he refused. He was turned in by a fellow evangelical who considered his refusal to pay taxes was ungodly. He went to jail for the same reason Leona Helmsley and many other tax cheats have.
Kent Hovind is a fraud, a moron, and after being incarcerated, it seems as though he's developing a God complex and a thirst for blood. Wonder if that's a symtom of something? And by 'something' I mean 'anal rape.' And by 'anal rape,' I mean what Kent Hovind does to science, only done unto him.
If you'd get over your petty monkey brained tribalism you'd realise you should be thanking those who weeded the guy out as a non believer who was taking advantage of your people.
I'm sure I could identify myself for a few years as a Christian preacher who was here to lead the fight against those evil Darwinists and one day I could start preaching about how there's no God or Satan and I'd bet I'd get my own band of 'true christians' supporting me claiming anyone who didn't agree with me was a child of Satan. Well, I guess that's close to how Jim Jones started.
wait ... did I just make a godwin ?? or a joneswin ???
Let me see. Satan wishpered in his ear: "dear, steal all the money in taxes to your brothers and sisters and spend it all entirely on yourself". And, being the man the only animal which commits the same mistake twice, he listened to him. Yes, he's powerful, unfortunately not the way you were meaning, I guess.
He stood up for his beliefs and that alone is admirable. If his beliefs were to screw those gullible idiots and take their money for him to be rich, yes, he stood up for his beliefs, that's sure. And if some people's beliefs including torture, killing, incest and injustice, well, do you find it admirable?
What I think is really amusing that these people seem to fail to notice that our evil government (centralization of power is a bad idea one way or another) is using christian beliefs as a propaganda tool to gain support.
Seriously what's wrong with us as a race that we blindly follow authority without realizing that those is power are not smarter or better, just richer.
I actually occasionally check his "blog" to make sure that he is not getting out of prison where he can do more harm. I have seen some of his videos, and his crazy mixed with conspiracy theory-ness is kind of scary.
I also find it interesting that his own language shifts between ignorance (he claims that he did not know the tax laws and that it is so complicated no one can understand it and therefore the courts should let him off) and taking a stand.
Its a sad example of someone brainwashing a lot of people.
kent hovind is not in jail for his ministry of ignorance, nor for his fundamentalist christian faith, nor for his evangilism. he's in jail because he tried to steal from the government. now all of you get that through you puny little minds, and all will be well.
"He stood up for his beliefs and that alone is admirable"
I hate that argument, to do a bit of godwin here Hitler stood up for his beliefs, was that admirable?
Mr_Vorhias wrote:
"He didn't "stand up" for crap. He said he should have gotten a tax break because he had a church. He didn't have a church. He had an amusement park."
He did a LOT worse than that. He claimed that U.S. tax laws didn't apply to him at all, because of a strained reading of the word "includes" in the tax code and because of other equally harebrained Tax Protestor pseudo-legal theories that had been soundly rejected by the courts on many prior occasions. He also filed frivolous suits against the IRS, and made threats against IRS operatives.
If his only crime had been to claim an amusement park was a church, the IRS would simply have seized the park to cover his back taxes and no jail time would have been involved.
If this is not from Kent himself, he is a liar, a woman beater, and an asshole. For god's sake he endorsed beating a disobeident wife

"I have just now been listening to Dr. Hovind's wonderful, truth-filled, God inspired message about creation. I am so so sad to hear he is suffering for his faith in the Bible as the infallible word of the Living God!!! I pray God uses him as he used Paul when he was imprisoned to further HIS Kingdom. The world will always hate the truth. We must remember the good and bad all works for our good according to the will of God! Please tell Dr. Hovind he's still reaching people way outside of his prison walls even today. FREE HOVIND!!!!!!!!!!!!! I pray God's will be done!"
Dear god, these people are hypocritical and delirious. Read on this website. It's depressing. Especially to a member of the religious left.
Free Kent Hovind!
While supplies last!
the New World Order and secret societies, topics the elite government don't want you to know about
What is it with these nuts and their batshit conspiracy theories? Secret societies? Oh, so the local chapter of I Tappa Kegga is running the world?
I've just noticed that the web site address can be read as:
freekenthovind/competition.
What do you get if you win?
He stood up for his beliefs and that alone is admirable.
He makes you all look like morons.
It breaks my heart to know how brutal and evil our government really is.
He owes the government tax money and refused to pay it. Jesus said so himself "Render unto Caesar..."
It breaks my heart to know how brutal and evil our government really is.
Yes. It's so evil that America isn't the Christian Saudi Arabia fundies dream it to be.
Move to Iran if you want a religion-based dictatorship. We don't want you here.
He didn't pay his taxes AND he complained about his taxes going to schools that taught evolution.
He told the tax court that he didn't own any property. Then at lunch, he rushed to the apartment he owned and attempted to violently evict his tenants. When the cops arrived, he said he was allowed to use violence because it was his property.
Don't give your support, and REALLY don't give your money, to conmen.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
