I believe the government should be religiously neutral, but the government must take a stand on health issues. The Christian Lifestyle is the most environmentally friendly, socially responsible lifestyle that exists. The Atheistic Lifestyle of extreme environmentalism, socialism, feminism, pornography, abortion, and homosexuality leads to disease, death and destruction.
The government took a stand on smoking when they started the "is there anything dumber than smoking campaign". There should be a government campaign (for health reasons) that states "is there anything dumber than extreme environmentalism, socialism, feminism, pornography, abortion, and homosexuality" I include extreme environmentalism, socialism and feminism in this list because they are an attack on Christianity the same as the teaching of evolution.

You say that the government should be 'religiously neutral' then you say that there should be a government campaign against x, y, and z because they are an 'attack' on Christianity?
(Admitted, you do say it's for 'health reasons,' but what isn't healthy about environmentalism, feminism, etc?)
You fail.
The Atheistic Lifestyle of extreme environmentalism, socialism, feminism, pornography, abortion, and homosexuality leads to disease, death and destruction.
Pornography:Univerally effects everyone, christians
too look at porn. To be honest I do at time, I know
not the best christian, at least im honest
Abortion: Again effects every female as well, no matter
what the faith or belief is
Homosexuality: You know not every gay person lives that sex craze
party lifestyle that so many fundies are obsessed with. Many
live in mono relationship. I don't agree with homosexualty entirely but it shoudn't be goverment concered(of what people do behind close door). oh, there are gay christians too
Others things, I really don't know much about them
How does porn lead to disease, death and destruction?
- Disease? I don't know of anyone catching a disease from their own hand.
- Death? How? Malfunctioning DVD players? Death of a million paper-cuts?
- Destruction? Yeah I often feel like destroying everything after looking at naked ladies.
But if we don't let the government think for us we're never going to meet Jesus...
I hate this kind of bullshit, this kind of retarded stereotyping and generalization. Just because someone doesn't like pornography, or abortion doesn't mean EVERYONE has to hate it.
This guy is suggesting thought control. He is suggesting government sponsored morality control. Let's face it, the government has no business telling us what to do in our free time. All it has to do is to
1. maintain a stable currency (failed)
2. provide the population with the basics necessary for survival (water, health-care, food, housing, also failed)
3. Protect the basic human rights as in punishment for murder, rape, usury (well...that'd be the g-men themselves), etc.
we're already being suffocated by too many laws that interfere with our daily lives regardless of the damage on the rest of society by any crime. Abortion damages one person (two, if you think the fetus is already alive) the woman. Smoking damages the smoker, the real danger is the fascist mind enforcement this guy is suggesting.
I'm getting too mad at this...
One: fundamentalists are not environmentally friendly given their beliefs that if we wreck this world, the skydaddy will just give us another.
Two: socialised medicine and education are GOOD for the general population.
Three: treating the entire human race equally can only lead to positive results.
Four: porn has been here since we first started srawing on the walls of caves - Get Used To It. BTW: just because it's there doesn't mean you have to look at ti.
Five: if you don't like abortion, then make birthcontrol more accessible and less stygmatised.
Six: how do the actions of couples and people whom you actively shun negatively impact your life? It's like saying that all people with blond hair offend you! It's bigotry and ignorance - Get Over It.
Have a nice day!
but guys, he's right, if we all adopt the christian lifestyle we have to drop medicine etc. in no time the plague, tbc and aids will roam the world, killing millions, that would decrease the strain of the human population on the world
...good thinking clirus...or is that not wat he meant?[/sarcasm]
They are indeed doing that. The problem is that in the Biblical Belt people are fatter, have more STDs than anywhere else, alcoholism is rampant, one of the supposedly more pro-life states has the highest rate of abortion in the country, and Lesbians are one of the healthiest demographic groups. Reality is what it is, not what you wish it to be.
Ok, if you think that waters polluted with metal waste, breathing polluted air and plagues due to climatic changes are good for health, that poverty caused by extreme capitalism is not harming anybody's health, that women who bear a lot of children and are not protected medically are healthier and that Lesbians aren't indeed healthier than straight men, it's because you live in an alternative reality.
I include extreme environmentalism, socialism and feminism in this list because they are an attack on Christianity the same as the teaching of evolution.
'If I don't like it, it's automatically a direct attack on my religion'. Geez.
"The Christian Lifestyle is the most environmentally friendly,"
You're late to the party, fundie, the liberals have been environmentally friendly for 40 years while you denounced them as anti christian for doing so.
"The Atheistic Lifestyleextreme environmentalism, socialism, feminism, pornography, abortion, and homosexuality leads to disease, death and destruction"
Well I'm an atheist, but I am not an extreme environmentalist, a socialist (although some of the European countries with slightly socialist systems seem to be desirable places to live), a feminist (I do of course believe in equal rights for men and women) or a homosexual. How do I fit in with CF's view of atheists?
@prager, education and medicine are good for a society even if socialised, though that's the worst possible choice bar none at all. I say this as a member of a society that has made the mistake of socialising medicine. Yet again this month I woke to the radio announcement that our health system is broken. Every Government since we introduced it has promised to fix it, and it gets ever worse.
The problem with socialised medicine is that there is no way to stop anybody, even if they are as nutso as clirus, from pissing in the stew to make it more to their taste. Eventually it's all piss and no stew.
Edit: My last sentence was too metaphorical. To precis, socialised medicne provides medicine the way socialised supermarkets provided meat.
I'm an atheist, married, and a radical capitalist. I am not an environmentalist, because I cannot stand activist groups that spread misinformation--actually, I don't like groups at all. Guess I'm not a socialist, like Christians.
No, an attack on Christianity would be me peeing on this cross.
Environmentalism is more like nostalgia for when you were little and you longed to be outside, instead of dreading it.
It's escaping me: how is keeping businesses from using the air and water as a garbage pit, giving food and housing to the starving and homeless and paying women the same as men for the same work bad for our health? And there's no evidence from unbiased non-"right to life" sources that abortion is more dangerous than live childbirth.
"I believe the government should be religiously neutral, but the government must take a stand on health issues."
A wolf in sheeps clothing.
Yeah, the Christian Lifestyle of the Dark Ages was just peaches & cream, wannit? Not much "disease, death and destruction" when the government supports Christianity...
Another fundie dolt who doesn't read his Bible, makes up shit to insert in it, thinks God died and appointed him to select who is Christian and who isn't, butt-licks the lying practices of the GOP, and lies about Christianity and liberals. In other words, business as usual in the fundie political world.
So becoming an athiest makes you a socialist and extreme enviromentalist (being a christian makes you enviromentally friendly btw). Let me give you this hypothetical situation of a recent athiest.
"hey dad"
"yes son"
"Now that i'm a christian, gods not pushing me around anymore. I'm freed from the "screw the enviroment" part of the bible. I'm going to paint the house white!"
"Oh no! I should have sent you to jesus camp!"
"Next, i'm going to promote SOCIALISM!"
"Oh dear god, capitalism is a fundimental christian value! can't you at least accept that!"
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
