I watched the trailer. There is a lot of paranoia about a potential Christian takeover of the US.
We can't even agree here on RR about politics and we are going to somehow take over the world?
They are also scared to death of Christians who believe that Jesus will return.
Of all the peoples to be scared of, these atheists are afraid of a group that doesn't lie or kill?

Potential?
Since when does the Christian majority NOT control most political discourse in the USA?
Been said here before, I'll say it again.
"Help, help, I'm being repressed!"
the people over at RR really scare me sometimes.
I really wish I knew how prevalent this belief was in the U.S., the majority of christians/catholics just consider their religion pretty metaphorical and not literal...
Seriously though, are there any statistics on this?
We get scared of you because you are grown adults who have an all-powerful imaginary friend who you believe does everything for you, all you have to do is ask.
We get frightened of you because you believe you are superior to the rest of the human race because of aforementioned imaginary friend.
We grow terrified of you because you use this supposed superiority to subjugate, intimidate, threaten and worse, and believe yourselves holy for it.
So yes. What sane, rational person would not be afraid of people like you?
They are also scared to death of Christians who believe that Jesus will return.
In much the same way I would be scared to death of a pyromaniac with a lit match, yes...
Of all the peoples to be scared of, these atheists are afraid of a group that doesn't lie or kill?
History says I have a reason to be scared. For that matter, current events say I should be scared.
"Of all the peoples to be scared of, these atheists are afraid of a group that doesn't lie or kill? "
No. We're afraid of Christian fundamentalists.
Of all the peoples to be scared of, these atheists are afraid of a group that doesn't lie or kill?
What are you talking about Willis?
Actually, they're more scared of an atheist takeover. It seems to me like most people in the United States fall into two camps, those who use logic and reason to determine their political views, and those who base their entire lives on Cold War propaganda. How else do you explain that the same people who so desperately NEED to have God in the motto and in the Pledge are also the same people who think that welfare and universal health coverage, you know, giving to the poor, fairly Christian thing, is going to inevitably turn the United States into a dictatorship?
It may have something to do with hearing and reading things like this:
When Jesus Christ does return with those that were raptured, they will take over the entire world; that will include the US. Those that resist will be killed off.

Original forum thread
There are other examples I could show you. Some are housed on this site.
"Of all the peoples to be scared of, these atheists are afraid of a group that doesn't lie or kill?"
Just following up Mr Spak's comment, I guess if a liar says he's lying, you get one of those logical loops. But when a liar says he's NOT lying, it gets easier. The processor can load it all in a single cycle.
Yep, Christianity is so innocent and peaceful...what's that? The Crusades? Right, I forgot. Well, at least they never killed anyone. What? The Salem Witch Trials? Darnit!
If he's talking about just the normal Christians, it wouldn't be worrying. But you can only assume he includes fundies, hypocrites, and people calling themselves Christians for various benefits. That group lies more than anyone else in the world
Your delusion the Christians are a group that doesn't lie or kill is refuted by the evidence. For lying, check out all the 'lying for Jesus' awards on this site alone.
Disregarding the fact that your nation has the world's highest murder rate, the Inquisition and the Salem witch trials refute your claim about killing.
A group that doesn't lie or kill?
*checks the RR forums* Well, looks like your own bloody people are condoning lying and killing every day .
I guess that makes you delusional AND a liar.
I am scared to death of a group of people that believe that Jesus will be here any minute to whisk you all away and then burn the rest of us away, mostly because I know, sooner or later, there will be one or two not content to wait.
You guys never leave the good comments for me, so on the risk of having someone have said it before :
"Of all the peoples to be scared of, these atheists are afraid of a group that doesn't lie or kill?"
who ? Christians ? Check your statistics, most people are christian (as the largest religion in the world, probably unpreventable). Statistically speaking nothing in the last century has caused more deaths than organized genocide institutionalized by one or many forms of government. The holocaust is, believe it or not, actually only one example (thought probably the best).
1. Don't trust religion
2. Don't trust the government
Hmm... wow. Scared, you say?
*thinking*
Of what? The only thing that perturbs me are you overly-zealous fundies and your beliefs. You need to keep your silly little death happy cult ideologies to yourself. Plz? Kthnx.
"We can't even agree here on RR about politics and we are going to somehow take over the world?"
Well why not? Atheist and/or gay people don't all agree on politics, but you're always claiming they're out to take over the world (Or America, which most fundies seem to think IS 'the world')
The Bible is the best compendium of mistranslations, misinterpretations, fabrications, speculations, flights-of-fancy, contradictions, babylonian fairy tales and out-and-out lies ever compiled by man.
Gods and religions are ALL inventions of Man, and of course each and every one of them is the "one true" So take your pick of the 5718 "one trues" listed to date.
Atheists are an easy target for the fundie - the schoolyard bully picking on the non-conformist.
Now if this god thing is so omnipotent, how come it neds humans to do its dirty work?
a) Yes, there is. Dominionism is fucking scary to anyone who isn't a Dominionist. And in case you hadn't noticed, the executive branch is controlled by a mix of Dominionists and Pinky and the Brain wannabes. Bad combo.
b) Thank goodness for small blessings, then.
c) You obviously don't know the difference between fear and pity. That said, some of you are perilously close to the nuclear football and itching for an apocalypse.
d) Speak for yourself; you Rapture Retards live in a self-imposed cage. The way things are going, it's only a matter of time before today's toy soldiers and gun nuts turn into tomorrow's Eric Rudolph/Tim McVeigh wannabes. You think the militia boys aren't paying attention to Al Qaeda's tactics?
"doesn't lie or kill"
Haha, oh wow.
"They are also scared to death of Christians who believe tat Jesus will return."
Most people are afraid of lunatics and shun then. Hadn't you noticed? Except other lunatics, of course.
Yeah, Christians never killed anyone
No inquisition
No Crusades
Not currently bombing the shit out of Iraq
No burning witches at stakes
They're all lies made up by us leftist evil propagandists.
Okay i have meet very few people who dont lie and it is not religious based, I am wiccan and I dont lie at all, i am completely honest and loyal end story. sorry but some people kill and some lie it is not religious based it is us being humans and thats all we can be, we lie to hold up a self image of ourselves, we kill to rid the world of annoyances so whats the different. Atheists dont fear christians, no religion fears another. we just fear people capable of harm and deceit cause its rational.
A group that doesn't lie or kill? Have you forgotten the Crusades, the Salem witchtrials, the persecution of Jews by Christians throughout history?
Mattural Selection put it best.
That's a good one, Mr Mannn! We just have to look back on the Dark Ages, to know that Christians in power both lie, kill and steal.
Take the reformation and formation of the Anglican Church, for example. The papists and the reformists both executed* each other as heretics, and all property of the killed was forfeited to the Crown. In the process, they often told the victim he would be free, only to execute him the other day. Killing, lying and stealing, all in one.
Who are the strongest supporters of the death penalty? The religious southern states of America.
Who are paid to tell lies? Politicians, who often say they are Christian. (Which, of course, might also be a lie.)
Btw, not all Christians hang on RR.
* The ones who were "only" beheaded counted themselves lucky. They were really creative with the death penalty then...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Bullshit.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
