Quote# 34335

So what is the point of living if all you have worked for is for nothing? And if this is people's one and only chance to live a life, why aren't they going completely by pleasure. I mean, if I knew that it would be nothingness after I died, I would live life to the fullest. Since there is no sin orpunishment, I would not to go work, for I could get everything just by stealing. Why would I want to waste my time cleaning? I wouldn't abide by the laws, for imagine how much fun it must be to be going 100 down a highway like some of these video games. Want a girl or guy and you aren't married to them, why go ahead and do it since there is nothing bad that can come out of it. Why not go out killing people for the fun of it? Want something a friend has, why not go ahead and take it from them? Joy to the world, I'm here to live my life as I wish!

Since there is no sin orpunishment, I would not to go work, for I could get everything just by stealing.
Yeah, since it's such a well-known fact that thieves don't get punished.

Why would I want to waste my time cleaning?
Well, if you want to live in you own dirt, go right ahead!

I wouldn't abide by the laws, for imagine how much fun it must be to be going 100 down a highway like some of these video games.
You want to live life to the fullest by ending it prematurely?
And again, even if you survived it, you would get locked away!

Want a girl or guy and you aren't married to them, why go ahead and do it since there is nothing bad that can come out of it.
Yeah, you actually got a point there!
But don't get cocky, it was just an accident!

Why not go out killing people for the fun of it? Want something a friend has, why not go ahead and take it from them?
You know, it's so ironic that these "moral, loving" Christians never seem to know what empathy is - or how to treat friends!

"Since there is no sin orpunishment, I would not to go work, for I could get everything just by stealing. "

Now, see, there may not be 'sin', but the boys and girls in blue (and your new best friend Bubba) might want to have a word with you about the 'punishment' part.

"Why would I want to waste my time cleaning?"

I'm a fairly stereotypical comp sci major, if you ignore the boobs, so I kinda agree with you here. *Rolls chair over empty diet coke bottles*.

Then again, I don't clean because I'm lazy and like video games. I was like this back when I believed in God, too.

"I wouldn't abide by the laws, for imagine how much fun it must be to be going 100 down a highway like some of these video games. "

It is pretty fun, unless stuff goes wrong, which can really fuck you (or others) up in the real world. So be careful.

"Want a girl or guy and you aren't married to them, why go ahead and do it since there is nothing bad that can come out of it. "

You know, I see nothing wrong with this statement. Wheee!

"Why not go out killing people for the fun of it? Want something a friend has, why not go ahead and take it from them?"

Again, the boys and girls in blue (plus Bubba) can make THIS life hell for you.... And I'm sure your friends love the fact that you're only nice to them because Daddy'll punish you otherwise.

Since there is no sin orpunishment, I would not to go work, for I could get everything just by stealing.

"Sin" is a nebulous word at the best of times, but there sure as fuck is punishment - well defined and measured out with excruciating precision. If you were to indulge in your obviously sociopathic nature to the fullest, we would have no need of your god to set things straight; society as it is today will kill you dead like the parasite you are.

Don't get me wrong; I abhor punishment and advocate the development of preventative measures, but that's not the way things stand at the moment. Civilisation pretty much everywhere still takes the retributionary approach to justice, on the whole.

This is the only life you get. Go on and kill yourself.

Want a girl or guy and you aren't married to them, why go ahead and do it since there is nothing bad that can come out of it.
Except for a screaming baby.

Why not go out killing people for the fun of it? Want something a friend has, why not go ahead and take it from them?
If want to go to jail and get ass raped in the shower go ahead.

Is it surprising that I show up too?

Why not be a total anarchist?

Consequences. Real-life consequences.

Am I the only one who took "Want a girl or guy and you aren't married to them, why go ahead and do it since there is nothing bad that can come out of it." as a license to rape? His/Her next comment on killing, and the previous comment on video games suggests that to me.

You know, something has finally clicked about this attitude for me. These people who focus so closely on the next life really don't care about this life -- we know that -- and therefore a humanist concept of morality (do no harm, and actively try to improve things) is incomprehensible.

I think it gets even more interesting when you look at big-L libertarians and Randroids -- though many are faithless, most are pretty obsessed with themselves. They're the nihilists Christians are afraid of, and many of them are firmly in bed with the fundies.

The Sherlockian

Why not?
Because they're human beings too, dickwad.

There's pleasure, and then theres profoundness. It tends to be pretty goddamn hard to achieve the latter if you have no ethics whatsoever. Thank you for revealing that your a son of a bitch without the least sense of compassion or morals whatsoever.

The Sherlockian

Really, can anyone here explain to me just how it is schmucks like this seem to be unaware that other human being feel emotions an dpain just like they do?

Seriously, I myself am a bit of nonviolent pansy along with bein an 'evil atheist', and I couldn' imagine or live with doing something horrible to someone else.

Fundamentalists seem to be unaware of anybodies wellbeing aside from their own. Is it really possible for a human being to be transformed into a selfish little monstrosity by religion alone?

3/24/2008 10:50:56 PM

anti-nonsense

Because if you don't go to work or clean your house your life isn't going to be very pleasant. And if you break the laws and go to jail your life won't be very pleasant, and if you drive insanely fast you are likely to get killed in short order, Life is not a video game.

There are consequences in life that have nothing to do with invisible sky daddies roasting us for eternity.

And the OTHER reason I don't kill people is because not only would I go to jail for a long long time, I also have empathy, I care about their feelings and well being and I don't like to hurt people, even if they annoy me.

Thankfully, darling, there are altruistic people who live so they can one day help others.

Like... by making stem cells from your own tissue. Or finding cure for cancer. Did you know that most of the credit [and money] goes to companies or institute who sponsored you, not yourself?

Huzzah for selfish Christian mindset!

12/29/2008 6:36:30 AM

Sounds like some fundies I've known, who could not comprehend the idea of a person having their own moral compass or values. They can't control their own impulses without the threat of eternal damnation hanging over their heads, so they can't believe that anyone else can. Finally made me understand their need for the authoritarian-style fundie churches, and why they think everybody else needs that, too.

But hasn't this one at least heard of jail?

12/29/2008 6:45:08 AM

Mr. Creazil

@ Caustic Gnostic: There is a difference between being an anarchist and being a sociopath. This guy falls into category B, but not A. An anarchist believes laws are unnecessary, and trusts people to do the right thing. A sociopath has no conscience or empathy, and only refrains from harming others because they fear punishment.

It is fun, untill you get over taken by a caravan doing 120. If you want to try it anyway go to some of the big roads in germany, they have no speed limit on them.

This is why I don't advocate the elimination of religion.

These people have absolutely no morals.

The only thing that keeps them in check is a sky daddy and his rules.

There is no empathy for anyone or anything.

Only Fundie Christians keep this idea that without their religion the world would be in chaos.

Yet they defend the Crusades, massive, near genocidal Christian arrogance. They call for the death of non-believers to this day and they pray to a God who they believe will cast most of us into eternal torment (and call him loving)

They harress, lie, and admit to killing or the deaths of many not personally bothering them. These are things laws of the land are against.

The laws of society have always, even centuries ago been more humane then the churchs

12/30/2008 1:36:59 PM

Fail logic is fail. There IS punishment; it's just not DIVINE punishment.

If the only thing stopping you from stealing, killing etc is the threat of God's punishment, then you truly have no natural sense of morals. What you fundies don't seem to realise is that a moral sense comes from our human nature, not from some instructions given to us in a book. Yes, try living your life to the fullest. Try respecting others from your own sense of human responsibility for a change. This post shows me exactly why religious people have such stunted spiritual growth.
