If science and atheism are so great, and science has an explanation to everything, why are Earth's natural resources running out? Why is the planet heating up and the polar regions shrinking? Why can't they solve the energy crisis or make up a decent theory about the cration?(ooh, burn)

Until I see some TRUE AND ACTUAL proof that the events described in the Bible didn't happen(which you guys don't have :D ) I will remain a true believer in Christ. You people remain in your belief that seeing is believing, which is about the most ignorant statement anyone can say. Events in the Bible were wrote by people witnessing these events and are ABSOLUTELY true.

I have no idea what "cration" is.

Earth's natural resources are running out because we're using them in just ridiculous amounts, for which a perusal of data from around the world (does that count as scientific?) validates.

The planet is heating up and the polar regions are shrinking because of global warming, for which there is substantial scientific evidence.

The energy crisis? We're working on it. Scientifically. We don't get in our cars and close our eyes and pray for it to start.

(And FYI, most (if not all) of the books of the Bible were written a century or more AFTER everything happened. It was basically what someone had heard about what someone else had said from some other dude. Play whisper down the lane and see how things get distorted)

If god is so great, why are Earth's natural resources running out? Why is the planet heating up and the polar regions shrinking? Why can't he solve the energy crisis or make up a decent theory about the cration (sic)?

Fixed.

The planet's resources are running out because they are limited and our population keeps rising.

"You people remain in your belief that seeing is believing, which is about the most ignorant statement anyone can say. Events in the Bible were wrote by people witnessing these events and are ABSOLUTELY true."

So, for science, 'seeing is believing' is pure ignorance, but for the authors of 'the bible' (a minimum of 2 millennia ago) the same thing makes it the absolute truth. Interesting how these people always find a way to make themselves look foolish without any help from others.

Science has an explanation for why we are running out of resources: fossil fuels come from long dead animal matter. Ergo you can't create coal and once it's gone it's gone.

The polar regions are shrinking? Where's that mentioned in the Bible? Or would that be a *gasp* scientific discovery?

What do you count as TRUE AND ACTUAL proof? (As opposed to false proof, presumably.) Because I have a circle over here that has a circumference that's more than 3 times its diameter.

If god is so "good" then why is their war, natural disasters, hunger, poverty.

The stupidity!

We DO have explanations for those things!

The earth's resources are depleting because for the past 200+ years people have been overusing them without any regard they'll run out. And either way what the hell does that have anything to do with the Bible.

If you're using that as a fallacy of science, science has, for the last 30 years or more, argued that resources are limited and will run out. Once the scientific community accepted the dire reality, it was up to society to change its ways. Sadly we've had to wait till now for any significant change towads rectifying the problem, and even then people are still against changing the status quo of reducing energy use and emissions (see Kyoto Protocol). It is not really science at fault here, but a conservative society in general.

As for the Bible not happening; we have all kinds of evidence to prove an Earth older than 6000 years old, no definitive trace of Sodom and Gommorah, no record in Eygpt of the seas parting (certainly these things would be recorded), no remains of the Ark, no remains of Jesus's grave, and so on.

"If science and atheism are so great, and science has an explanation to everything, why are Earth's natural resources running out?"

The Earth's resources are finite. If your god was so great, why didn't he just make it so they never ran out?

"Why is the planet heating up and the polar regions shrinking?

Because we have abused what little we have in ways that are absolutely criminal. The Earth is merely reacting to what we have done to it. If you put a match to paper, the paper will burn.

"Why can't they solve the energy crisis or make up a decent theory about the cration?(ooh, burn)"

We are working on the energy crisis, but things are not being helped by people like you who treat this planet like a giant toilet, because you believe that after we have ruined it that your magical skydaddy is going to give you another one. Some of us try to think of the future generations that have to live here, you think only of yourself.

"Until I see some TRUE AND ACTUAL proof that the events described in the Bible didn't happen(which you guys don't have :D ) I will remain a true believer in Christ."

Until I see some proof that the events described in the bible DID happen (which you guys definitely don't have) I will remain a staunch supporter of the scientific process and the advances that it has brought us.

"You people remain in your belief that seeing is believing, which is about the most ignorant statement anyone can say. Events in the Bible were wrote by people witnessing these events and are ABSOLUTELY true."

Sooo... Us witnessing, discovering and recording is ignorant, but people 2000 years ago supposedly witnessing and recording (without discovering) are true? Your "logic" baffles me.

The burden of proof whether it happened is on they who believe it happened.

As for global warming and energy, we as the human race do not have the answers to everything (but see above for the energy crisis), but with time and more people willing to learn, our knowledge will make leaps and bounds and could solve the puzzle that is earth in the next 200-3000 years.

Because we're using them.

Because we're burning too much shit.

They can, but it will cost money and bankrupt the oil companies, so they're trying to keep it down.

Creation? I have no fucking clue, but that doesn't mean yours is right.

Of course we don't have true and actual proofs, but that doesn't mean your stuff is true. Russell's Teapot.

You're stupid.

"proof that the events described in the Bible didn't happen(which you guys don't have :D[the :D symbol means I'm a snarky asshole])

Actually the events in the bible can be disproven in just two easy steps:

Step 1:Read the bible
Step 2:Use your fucking brain
Ooh, burn!

"Events in the Bible were wrote by people witnessing these events and are ABSOLUTELY true."

Oh, where to begin? I suppose I'll leave out the grammatical errors and focus on content. Eye witness accounts suck. Ask any lawyer or cop.

Define true and accurate proof and anyone on this site will be happy to provide it.

As for the rest, everyone else pretty much said it.

When Jesus was born, the bible said Herod the Great ordered all babies in Bethlehem to be killed. The romans would have recorded this huge event. They didn't.

Herod died in 4BC (look it up). He therefore couldn't have ordered the event.

There's your true and actual proof that the events in the bible didn't happen.

Unlike popular belief among religious folks, science doesn't claim to have the answers to everything. You think someone just came up with science, and suddenly all the questions you ever had were answered? Y'know why science doesn't have the answers to everything? Because it takes time and money to do the research, and there's a certain limit to how close you can get to finding the answers. It's simply beyond our reach.

Why does the bible have the answers just because some old geezer wrote it down hundreds of years ago? How can you be so sure it's the truth? Trusting the bible is like trusting gossip magazines.

"Why are Earth's natural resources running out?"

They are limited.

"Why can't they solve the energy crisis?"

Because those Wall-street morons won't fund to our solutions.

"Why is the planet heating up and the polar regions shrinking?"

Greenhouse effect.

"Events in the Bible were wrote by people witnessing these events and are ABSOLUTELY true."

Hmm, Use some common sense.

"I will remain a true believer in Christ."

I will remain a true believer in Allah! (Blows up himself).

Explaining reality doesn't create magic now does it. The fact that everything is running out kind of undermines your omniescient big sky daddy don't you think?

Oh wait, you think creationism hasn't been disproved - you don't think at all do you!

We can't give you a theory on cration because we don't know what the fuck it is. We do have theories on creation though.

1. The earth has a finite amount of resources. Its like a bottle of water. The more you drink out of it the less is left. We consume resources at a phenomenal rate due to our massive population and our poor record with environmental control. Which is why scientists are going "seriously guys, knock it off."

2. The planet is heating up because people are unwilling to change their profit margins and indeed stop driving unnecessarily large cars. I don't mind someone on a farm driving a four by four. It is however unnecessary to drive one on the school run. The greenhouse gas effect is screwing the ice caps up due to this crazy stuff. Also our populations are large and need to be controlled and indeed slowly reduced so our reliance on food such as rice and cattle are also reduced since these are major contributors.

3. We can solve the energy crises. The main problem is people are unwilling to listen. Do you want nuclear energy? Its cleaner than anything else we have. Its plentiful. It has just as poor a record as Oil/Coal. We are also investigating into solar, wind and tidal energy to supplement this and micropropogation. The problem is we can't have stuff like Vegas and would need to be more conservative in our power use which people are unwilling to do.

4. Creation. Evolution is so immensely superior to any other human formation theory owing to its flexibility. Remember children the assumption of perfection will make you complacent and easy to exceed in potential. We are "far from perfect" and indeed its a good thing we have "evolution" so we can cope with new problems. Its the reason for our survival and indeed our awesome superiority. If I were God, I would have created it this way rather than some daft as "perfect being".

5. Simple enough. Jesus would not have been crucified. Murders mainly got it. Hell even treason would have been punished by "arena". No roman official record mentions him. The romans seem to have just ignored such a big event? Its almost as bad as the Egyptians not mentioning Moses and the loss of a Pharaoh (A God King) to freak waves. Events in the bible are written by a whole bunch of different people to make up a book that was edited and bodged together. Most religious texts are like this. Its no more divinely inspired than Apollo or Jupiter or indeed the Allfather.

"Until I see some TRUE AND ACTUAL proof that the events described in the Bible didn't happen I will remain a true believer in Christ."

Come to think of it, I never got that TRUE AND ACTUAL proof that it was my mom who took my baby teeth from under my pillow all those years ago. Fool that I was, I believed her when she explained that she had been responsible and turned away from the my true faith in the tooth fairy. I seem to remember that was also the time I started getting cavities.

Oh great and wise Tooth Fairy, I humbly beseech thee forgive my foolish doubts and restore to me those healthy and pearly-white gnashers that are thy boon! Pardon thy loyal follower for stupidly expecting proof of the assertion instead of believing everything is true unless absolutely proven otherwise!

Lead me not into gingivitis, but deliver me from halitosis!

For thine is the floss, the powerbrush and the mouthwash.

For ever and ever.

A-nd spit.

Ummm... yeah, you mind telling me who witnessed a literal 6 day creation, or "cration", as you call it?

Jesus Saves

The only reason the planet is warming is directly due to the increasing number of souls entering hell. This is a most logical conclusion based upon the fact that hell is a literal place, with literal flames that will torment sinners for an eternity. Your only hope is to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and savior, confessing your sins and repenting of your wicked ways. Wickedness takes many forms, but most exceptional forms are homosexuality. God does not take kindly to an exit being used as an entrance. This is unnatural.
