When was Obama ever a Muslim? You fail.

These are the same people who, if Obama had changed his name, would say he was hiding something.
There's no winning.

Dude, just admit that you don't like the scary Black man. At least then, I'll only have contempt for you. The way you're actually trying to excuse that sort of bigotry with such a flimsy "reason" causes contempt and a bit of anger.

Paul means hammer in Hebrew. Unless you don't understand the meaning of nickname, can I call myself Table or Window?. I feel that you'd be blaming the Christians in Lebanon, whose names happen ALSO to be Barack and Hussein.

So, if you don't want to be considered a Jew, don't ever pick a name from a character in the Bible. Be consequent.

Wait, doesn't the bible say Christians should honour their father and mother? Changing the name they gave you doesn't sound a lot like honouring them does it?

And if he changed his name to appease this level of stupidity, you jackasses would be screaming he was trying to hide something.

Umn... no. Arabic names are not always Muslim, per say. Had he been named Mohammed, we could talk, maybe, but no, fail, you dumbass. Religion and ethnicity are not the same.
Even if he did have a Muslim name, it's not inconsistant with Christianity. Bridget is the name of a Celtic goddess, but plenty of Christian women have that name, anyway. This is because their ancestors, like those of Sen. Obama, were of another religion, so there is no contradiction. It's just a name, a marker of heritage, not faith. The same applies to Christian men called Dennis (a variation on the name of a Greek god).

The fact that a statement this brain-dead came from someone as old as this guy makes the fact that he's a total dumbfuck all the more depressing.

What's in a name? That which we call a politician would be just as corrupt.

Since your name is either from the OT or Germanic or Latin, what on earth are you doing not being a Jew, or worshipping Woddan or Jupiter?

Um- because God wants him to be his appointed prophet to reach out to the infidels in these end times, to show that America will love their neighbour, so if you don't vote for Obama you are flaunting God's will and will not be Raptured(TM).

Why does this argument always sound like, "Obama's not white enough! Just look at his NAME!" to me?

Okay........... let's see what he can change his name to then:
If Saul became Paul, surely Obama could then become (it's gotta rhyme.....) USama? or Sam?
Aw forget it. This is just plain silly.

What do you bet righteousdude's real name is "Albert" or "William", and has yet to convert his first name to some 'Christian' name like "Ezekiel" or "Malachi"

Hmm... I'm not sure what 'religion' my real name comes from, so how about if I go around calling myself BlackMageJawa offline as well as on?
Not that I worship Final Fantasy or anything, I just love those little dudes with the floppy hats and glowing eyes.

My late companion's name was Marsha, and her mother's name was Martha. Both women were profoundly, piously, proudly Christian. Both names are derived from the name for the Roman god of war. Neither woman saw any problem with this.
Most common names nowadays have ancient origins that include reference to ancient deities. It doesn't mean that we're still dedicating our children to those deities, let alone proclaiming such dedication just by keeping the names we were given.
