Quote# 3449

Morality, belief in God and accepted standards make for an ordered and civilized life. Do you want to live in fear of your fellow man or live in security? Belief in Jesus should keep people acting in such a way that society benefits greatly.

Filin De Blanc

And yet quite often belief in Jesus doesn't seem to stop people from doing absolutely Celestiaawful things.

Godwin ahead:

Oh yes, just look at how ordered and civilized that fellow man Adolf Hitler was, how much German society benefitted from his actions.

I fear as a gay man to walk outside some days because of the christian right that that is a load of crap

It should keep people acting that way (even as a non believer in his divinity I still get the impression Jesus was a good dude), but it seems all too often to be used as an excuse for acting like a cunt.

Dr. Shrinker

So Christian fanatics don't live in constant fear?

Please allow me to guffaw at you!

Indeed, you'd think belief in a divine being who preached forgiveness and tolerance would benefit society.

Real shame most "Christians" actually worship Paul and the Old Testament Blood God, and not Christ...

(No offense meant to those who actually remember there's supposed to be Christ in Christianity, of course.)

"Belief in Jesus should,,,,,"

But it doesn't, statistics show this, being a devote Christian in fact has a trend to making one ignore laws of the land, the very things that have made us the civilization we are today.

Crimson Lizard

Slavery was an accepted standard once, defended by morality and belief in God.

The Burning Times were a period of great belief in Jesus, yet everyone lived in fear that their fellow man would denounce them as a witch, watch them die horribly, and be rewarded with their property... until accused in their turn.

Not terribly ordered or civilized, is it?

No. SOCIETY should keep you acting in a way that benefits society. You're part of it. Don't you want it to be better?
