I would have to assume Savvy counts all born in Muslim countries Muslims, but only the believing as Islamic.
Still, doesn't quite add up because that kinda makes them atheists.
Oh, come on, people. It's just a tyop, surely? If he meant 'Islamist' then there's nothing wrong with what he said.
I think you mean "Islamist", buddy. That means the extremists, which are indeed dangerous. Such as all extremists, including Christian ones.
I'd call "Poe" on this if it wasn't from Rapture Ready.
These people are allowed to vote, have children, drive cars and carry guns, you know.......
That's just, ... I mean, the thing is ... But really, you do know ...
Fuck. That's it. If this is the standard of intelligence in the evangelical community, a community that represents a large block of votes in our nation, then we are utter bereft of hope.
I would weep for the future, but that might give them the impression that I'm gay and weak and womanly, so I'll just go get a cup of coffee and drown my sorrows.
Fuck.
To be fair, he's probably making reference (albeit poorly) to the phrase: "Do not judge Islam by the Muslims you know, and do not judge the Muslims you know by Islam." ( - http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/ )
Saying it's a typo for Islamist isn't much better. Islamist means in accordance with Islamic belief or a follower of Islamic belief. It's recent extension to mean someone who advocates government by strict Islamic principles is political 'spin', and no doubt offensive to many Muslim people who would describe themselves as Islamist.
Islamist is to Islam as Christian is to Christianity, or Atheist to Atheism.
It's also highly ironic that even in its new usage, 'Islamist' refers to someone who wants to see their (or someone else's) country run on strict religious grounds. Just like the fundies at RR.
I think that he meant Islamist not Islamic. With that simple typo, the post makes sense. He did not intend to make a tautology like some have implied. That being said, he does show the typical ignorance of others' beliefs characteristic of fundiedom.
Islamism - is a term that denotes a set of political ideologies holding that Islam is not only a religion but also a political system, the teachings of which should be preeminent in all facets of society. Islamism holds that Muslims must return to earlier models of Islam by introducing sharia, or Islamic law, into modern society. Islamism often espouses pan-Islamic political unity.
Islamism also often asserts that western military, economic, political, social, or cultural influences in the Muslim world are un-Islamic and should be replaced by purely Islamic influences. Definitions of Islamism vary. Some sources suggest that its tenets urge "support for identity, authenticity, broader regionalism, revivalism, [and] revitalization of the community" while others define it as "an Islamic militant, anti-democratic movement, bearing a holistic vision of Islam whose final aim is the restoration of the caliphate." Attributes of sharia law supported by many Islamists include "enforcement of Islamic punishments, including prohibitions on taking interest, playing music, showing television", and enforcing traditional dress and prayer attendance.

No supercomputer in the world can measure how much you just failed.
@stoat100
I've tried that, too, that's how Rapture Ready prevents people from figuring out the truth.
But yeah, idiot !!! Saved405 here's a mathematical equation that might help you understand the relationship between Muslim and Islam
Islam=Muslim
In Germany they're also known as Mohammedaner, as they worship the prophet Mohammed, but that's actually a more incorrect term.
You know, I know what Saved405 is trying to say, but that's still a bucket o' fail right there, I don't care who y'are.
Mohammed says:
n00b u fail
Contrary to the assertions of Wikipedia (as reproduced by McCulloch), an Islamist is not just politically active or militant Muslim as is suggested. The term Islamist can refer to both scholars of Islam (as in Botanist) and orthodox Muslims (according to Princeton, I was only aware of the second meaning).
The neologism of using 'Islamist' to mean militant, comes from the history of terrorist acts by some orthodox Muslim groups, which lead to the phrase 'Islamist terrorism'. Once linked the words quickly became seen as synonymous.
This was, and is, incorrect. There are a few orthodox (i.e. Islamist) Muslims were I live, and a few more where I work. They are neither militant, nor as pushy about their religion as the born-again Christians dotted around my workplace (one of whom stole and threw away the calendar my 5-yo daughter had bought me for Christmas because he objected to its pictures of a well-known girl group).
Orthodox Muslims are no more 'bad' than orthodox Jews, Jains, or (for the most part) Christians.
... you know what? For the sake of my sanity, I'm just going to assume that he meant to type "Islamist". The alternative is just too fucktarded to contemplate.
Granted, it's still ignorant, but at least it's a more understandable mistake.

I appreciate the sentiment, lil pal, but you got a bit of a ways to go before you get all the way to tolerance. See, after you quit making sweeping generalizations, you have to understand what the words mean. Or you could try it in the opposite order. Whatever works.
Confused?
