"Evolution is a religious belief."
And my car is actually a type of large shellfish.
"Science theories are very similar to religous beliefs,"
In the same way that skydiving is like falling asleep.
"except they add in crap like hydrogen, oxygen etc."
And evidence. Something that religion is sorely lacking.
"Evolution is a religious belief."
No, only fundtards who are incapable of seeing the world thru anything other than religious lens.
"Science theories are very similar to religious beliefs..."
Nope, they are the opposite of religious beliefs.
"....except they add in crap like hydrogen, oxygen etc."
Yes, facts and evidence, to fundies they are like garlic and sunlight.
Yes, let's take a look at the differences between religion and science. Here's the bible's take on the origin of the universe:
"Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good"
And science:
"Then God said, "Let there be crap like hydrogen and oxygen"; and there was hydrogen and oxygen. And God saw that the crap was good"
Wait, that's not how it works. Go take a few accredited science classes.
Evolution is a religious belief
Ye Gods, I'm sick of this stupid idea. If I ever track down the original bright spark who coined this trainwreck of word definition, I'm going to force feed him passages from biology textbooks- both figurativly and literally- until he emails every person on the internets explaining just how monumentally wrong he was.
Sorry, I'm in a slightly sadistic mood tonight.
Evolution is a religious belief. Science theories are very similar to religous beliefs, except they add in crap like hydrogen, oxygen etc. and valid reproducible results, peer reviewed publications, falsifiable testable theories, revision of ideas when they are shown to be false,
You know, crap like that.
hey, fundie here's a horseshitload of evidence? want some?
no thanks, because science is just crap like hydrogen and oxygen
"crap like hydrogen, oxygen etc." == Evidence
As in, what Creationism does not have. Whoops!
Oh - and you're talking Chemistry, not Biology (which the study of Evolution is part of). Really, did you just throw what first came to mind out there, or what?
Creationism is a religious belief. Creationist theories are very similar to scientific theories, except they add in crap like willful ignorance, lack of investigation etc.
Much better.
Good, so you just go on living without them.
Meaning no air, water, petrol, or food. Hope we can convert more fundies to that lifestyle.
Religion makes a bunch of claims, and tries to make the world according to it, even when those claims are proven false. (case in point: Galileo)
Science tries to figure out how the universe and everything in it works, makes claims based on evidence, and when science is wrong, it ammends those claims, or scraps them for better ones, for a better understanding of everything.
... yeah, I can see the resemblence...
I'm with Ravii. How dare we use facts and stuff in our 'religion', it is so unfair!
How is Ravii's religion going to compete with actually having facts that support your beliefs that, in most cases, you can actually pull out and wave at doubters?
What is Ravii supposed to do? Produce independently verified accounts of the crucifixion? Summon God or Jesus to appear before the doubters? Get God to perform a specific miracle in laboratory conditions on request?
Look, Ravii and me aren't asking a lot, we just want things to be fairer. You've got all these tests and data and observations and stuff, and when you make your science predictions it's usually only a couple of years before someone can see if you're right. But these other religions, they've only got made-up stories, metaphor and allegory to work with, and their predictions necessarily have to be vague so that they can be retrofitted to one or more events.
So play fair, guys. Please, no more facts!
Science theories are very similar to religous beliefs, except they add in crap like facts and experiments.
Religious beliefs are very similar to science theories except they pull shit out of their ass and call it proof.
Fixed twice.
Measuring by mass, the human body is mostly oxygen.
Measuring by number of atoms, the human body is mostly hydrogen.
He just called himself poop.
This makes me titter like a school girl.
Science theories are very similar to religous beliefs, except they add in crap like evidence, experimentation, logic, ect.
Evolution is a religious belief.
Yeah, and my skin is purple.
Science theories are very similar to religous beliefs, except they add in crap like hydrogen, oxygen etc.
Translation: I can't understand it so I'll call it a religion.
Evolution is a religious belief. Science theories are very similar to religous beliefs, except they add in crap like hydrogen, oxygen etc.
Well, yes, and actual evidence.
Yeah, sure. And physics is like writing a play, except it adds stuff like mass and energy. And going to the store is like eating a bowl full of metal scrap, except it doesn't have nearly as much metal scrap.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
