Quote# 35322

Most of these comments miss this person's point. He cited a page reference where Darwin himself claimed that animals and plants have the same origin. Who believes that plants and animals evolved from the same origin today?

He could have equally argued the origin of the races according to many early evolutionists.

Whites evolved from the more intelligent chimp, Blacks the more primitive ignorant gorilla and Asians from the orangutan. When was the theory of the origin of races disproved?

This is why this has to be taught in school at an early stage. It's not strange that you can't see the logic if you don't know the facts about evolution.

Chimps, gorillas and orangutans are evolved version of the
same primate as humans, numbskull. Ie, we all came from the same point somewhere in history, but natural selection and adaptation changed us inte the different species we are today.

As far as being black, yellow, red, white or whatever is more of a recent adaptation in comparison.

Sorry, all men of all colours are the same genetic 'race.'

Women, however, are entirely too complex to be the same species. (I kid!)

a) If that was the case, different races would be of a different genus, rendering your argument absolutely useless. We originated from the homo habilis at the beginning, which is a very different primate from the gorilla, chimp or orangutan.

b) Evolution does not work that way. You make it seem like a plant just one day sprouted legs and started kicking around and it called itself a horse. Does not compute.

c) Fuck off and die you racist shit :)

I believe that all life on this planet originated from the same amino acids combining to create some dna and singular celled organisms. Takeing it out of context dose not make something true

"Most of these comments miss this person's point. He cited a page reference where Darwin himself claimed that animals and plants have the same origin."

And Darwin was, once again, correct in his reasoning.

"Who believes that plants and animals evolved from the same origin today?"

Well, I do for one. Then again, the people who really know this stuff also say it. You know, the biologists of the world.

"He could have equally argued the origin of the races according to many early evolutionists."

Possibly, but that's more of an anthropological topic. I assume this is some sort of half-assed attempt to make Darwin out to be a racist. Not that it would matter one damned bit if he were. The guy could have been Hitler himself who described evolution and it wouldn't make it wrong.

"Whites evolved from the more intelligent chimp, Blacks the more primitive ignorant gorilla and Asians from the orangutan."

Excuse me? First of all, I haven't the slightest fucking clue what you're going on about and I strongly suspect you don't either. Second, all three of those are considered highly intelligent; Orangs in particular as I understand it. I don't know of any comparative studies of their reasoning abilities but I would guess they would all be quite equal.

"When was the theory of the origin of races disproved?"

Probably shortly after someone with an inkling of common sense heard it.

@David B.: I was taking more of a molecular approach to it, but you're likely right. I'll have to look that book up - it seems fascinating at first blush. Thanks!

The most amazing thing about this quote is that Darwin argued for the common origin of many kind of animals, plants, etc. from their very similar morphologies.

Origin of Species is one long argument to the effect that animals can vary in characteristics, the dominant characteristics can change over time, there is a natural way this can happen, and that the strong similarities between different species is evidence that it has.

The idea that a 'Darwinian' would look at a European, an African and a gorilla and conclude that the African is more similar to the gorilla than the European is ludicrous. If this had ever been shown to be true it would have completely demolished Darwin's theory!

"Chimps are the most violent amongst the apes (barring our enlightened selves). They will actively wage war against each other. Unlike gorillas, or orangutans. It saddened people to realise that we were closer related to them than to bonobos who have the "qualities" we regard as human."

didnt chimps and bonobos diverge well after the human line
we're equally related to both

Who believes that plants and animals evolved from the same origin today?

Anyone who accepts evolution.

Whites evolved from the more intelligent chimp, Blacks the more primitive ignorant gorilla and Asians from the orangutan. When was the theory of the origin of races disproved?

It was never a theory to begin with, and it contradicts genetics.

He didn't say a iota of all that. Unless you're referring, not to Charles Darwin but to some Nigel Darwin or so.

Actually, you racist piece of shit, no. People of any color can have children with other people of any color, whether or not the pair are the same color. Species are defined by sharing a gene pool, consequently, since we all share a gene pool, we're all one species. Our ancestors, in the distant past, were the same, whether we are white, black, yellow, red, brown or any other color. Fucktard.

You know what really makes me sad about this? The poor gorillas being insulted in such a fashion.

ETA: Since I realized that this could be taken horrifically... *not* by possibly being the ancestors of Africans, but by being called primitive and ignorant.
