[In a discussion of the origin of the sentient machines that are attempting to wipe out all life in the galaxy. One poster said maybe they are gods.]
Both of your theories are blasphemy. Gods do not destroy life, but care for it and worry for it. Nor would they be creations of gods because IF they did build machines (which I find highly unlikely.) they would build them for the good of all life.

Too right, no way a god would do something as evil as smite a whole city because of a few bad lots, flood the entire world and drown just about everyone, relentlessly persecute someone on a bet, or cause wild animals to slaughter young children for being lippy.
Besides, he's clearly never heard of The God of Eth .
"Gods do not destroy life, but care for it and worry for it."
*cough*Da Fludde*cough*
Aside from the Christian psychopath there are numerous gods of other cultures who required human sacrifice or were said to be destroyer gods who would end all creation.
"Gods do not destroy life, but care for it and worry for it"
bullshit. Haven't you ever played Final Fantasy 7?
Gods do not destroy life,
Recorded instances of god creating human life in the bible: three (adam, eve & maybe jesus).
Recorded instances of god taking human life in the bible: order of millions.
Even with a very generous allowance for numercial error in readings, the general trend of the data does not support your conclusion.
"they would build them for the good of all life."
Just what God had in mind when he made the tapeworm, huh? Or how about cancer,or AIDs,smallpox, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.
Yeah, God sure looks after us.
This made me think of Arthur C Clarke.
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
I'd find it hilarious if all the world's religions actually stemmed from highly advanced machines who had visited earth before deciding "these humans are laughably primitive. Let's try Mars."
Which leads to a groundbreaking theological theorum: Jesus was a robot.
* The reason water came out when his side got speared? The Centurian punctured his radiator.
* Three days in the cave? He had to wait to recharge.
* Ascent into heaven? Rocket boots.
It also explains why he really drove the money lenders out of the temple. Their attempts to scam him with dishonest interest rates didn't match his internal calculations, so he went berserk and ran around screaming "DOES NOT COMPUTE!"
"Gods do not destroy life, but care for it and worry for it."
Never heard of Shiva, eh?
I swear, at my most übernerdly state of fandom toward sci-fi and comic books, with a keen curiosity about UFOs, there is STILL no way I could ever have been as out of touch with reality as this poor sap. Some people just cannot seem to distinguish reality from fantasy.

This isn't fundy. Yeah, it's out of touch with reality but he never mentions which gods he's talking about, claims that there is only one god in existence or says that people who disagree with him are going to be eternally tortured. He's just a silly nerd, not a fundy.
Maybe I'm out of touch with the latest discoveries,,,, what "sentient machines" is he talking about ? We don't even have a half-way decent AI computer yet, so where did these machines come from ?
Ooooohhhhh I just went to the forum. This doesn't even belong here, it's from a PC Game forum. Nothing fundi about it,,, it's role play !
Um, you look at yourself lately?
You are a human, created by a God. Humans make destructive war machines, and also machines that serve no greater purpose than to pollute the rest of creation for human pleasure.
Plus, our God has been... a little turbulent in the past. Two words, hun. Great Flood. Remind you of anything? ^^;
Note to everyone wondering: This is discussing the sentient machines from the plot of the video game "Mass Effect". I have not played the game, but apparently their origin are not explained.
And it's not RP. They're discussing the plot of the game seriously.
Um... sentinent machines that are attempting to wipe out all life in the galaxy? Am I missing something?
Personally, besides the "blasphemy" comment, I don't see fundie so much as personal philosophy. They never actually mention the Christian god, and in fact speak of gods, plural, too. So this is just their personal beliefs on deities and their behavior. And come on, expecting gods to be kind and wise isn't that crazy.
Confused?
