If people have "searched for god and not found anything" it's because there's nothing to find.
And of course phrases like "stupid kids", "stupid teenagers" and "damn idiotic" are *not* tags and labels, are they?
Is it that hard to accept that at 14 some peolpe have either searched for and not found a god or come to a realization that given the depth and breadth of the cosmos, a god who monitors your every thought and gets angered if you do not worship him is highly improbable.
Speaking for myself I'd say that any faith I had went out the window about the same time I found out that a global flood was more or less impossible... that was when i was 9 years old.
Secondly why would not getting the chistmas present you wanted have anything to with become an atheist, the "Angry Atheist" is largely a myth, yes there are some people out there that adopt the label atheist because they are acting out against a religious parental authority, and some who have become angered at the god of thier choice because of unaswered prayers or such, but for the most part they are a minority.
In closing prehaps people should find out a little more about others motive for they're lack of faith before lashing lashing out in a juvinile tirade...

I actually didn't become a full blown athiest until I was 22 (5 weeks ago). Before that, I tried about 4.5 years of pagan/agnosticism to basically fill the void of christianity while I came to cope with the thoughts of no afterlife, etc. (my friend was depressed over the afterlife thing for a while, so I avoided it). The fact is, I gave up my faith in christianity after several months of *'thinking'* so yeah, christianity works just fine for anyone used to it until they start thinking about life.

Whether the jerks that traumatize others are real Christians or not is irrelevant. They claim to be, and often claim to be the only 'real' Christians.

I gave up believing in God and Santa at about the same time. When it was explained to me that Santa was just a pretty story to make Christmas feel a bit more special, it not long afterwards occurred to me that quite a lot of things I had believed up till then seemed awfully convenient with hindsight.
Having worked out that my presents came from the shops, and that my parents had to pay for them, it was on reflection ludicrous to then assume that they had them delivered to the North Pole so that a man with a sack and magic, flying reindeer could bring them to my house and sneak down our chimney to give them back. In a simple, intuitive way I had arrived at a version of Ockham's razor, and having done so I proceeded to apply it to all the things I had previously taken for granted. At which point global floods, talking snakes, angels, devils, virgin births, men rising from the dead and miracles didn't make the cut. If I could think of a simpler explanation, the more complex one was rejected.
So for me it was finding out that there isn't a Santa Claus that was the trigger. It's only a shame that that first step didn't come until I was 23.
Let's see... by the time I was fourteen, my parents had divorced, my mother had been hospitalized three times and had been through rehab once, and my aunt, the most religious person I knew, had already died a painful, prolonged death. So yeah. I was an atheist at fourteen. And it took me until I was seventeen to 'come out'.

It's called empathy. While I myself have been extremely fortunate, I've watched people I know and people I don't know suffer incredibly. No merciful God could allow such things to happen to good people, and it didn't take much looking into scientific evidence to realize that there probably isn't a God, merciful or not.
For the same reason you're a Christian. Because they want to. And by the way, who says that you have to be over 18 to define your beliefs?. Following your logic, why are you a Christian saved since 10 or 5?

Second, to say that a person, child or not, is stupid because they don't agree with you is supremely arrogant. Third, how do you know he hasn't searched for God. While some younguns may well rebel against religion as a way of looking badass, it is perfectly possible to have experienced serious grief at that age. In fact i'd say it's doubly possible, as the early teen years tend to be when the first hints of how horrible the world can be pop up while a fair portion childhood naivety still remains.
Speaking personally, I remember sitting in my English class at age fourteen, reading "Underground to Canada" and thinking "What the fuck is wrong with humankind", when the police turned up to tell me that **TERRIBLE LIFE EVENT** had happened.

Hm...I'm seventeen, I've searched for God and found nothing and no, my daddy didn't get me the right Christmas gift. instead, he got into a drunk driving accident with me in the car on Christmas Eve and put me on the back burner for years to date someone who didn't like me. Oh, and when I was nine, he cheated on my mom and swore me to secrecy, even after they got a divorce. Yeah, no, you can do what you want, but don't judge what you don't know.
I am not a stupid kid, I'm almost an adult and I'm a very proud agnostic. When you realize that knowledge has it's limits that faith can't fill, that's when you might join the rest of humanity on the 'dark side.'
And the for record, the poverty, depression, bullying, and bankruptcy, the car getting repoed, and my brother's mental disability just proved to me that if God's real, he's fallen asleep on the job.

He did, however, give me and my mom a ticket to the welfare line, and left me with a few bruises and a still-lingering mistrust and fear for 'redneck' adult men to boot... And this was before I was even six and not counting such things as my almost-as-abusive stepfather, my cancer-scare, my numerous surgeries and ailments, my family's vast history of alcoholism, drug abuse and diabetes on both sides, my constant mistreatment in school due to my interests in the arts and my feminine nature (as well as, more recently, my lack of Christianity) and my on-and-off bouts of suicidal depression due to intense feelings of loneliness and worthlessness... All while being raised in a Christian household. And I'm not even eighteen yet. So don't you fucking talk to me about finding a god and/or 'tags and labels', you prick.

I don't think most kids decide to be atheists, I think that they realize that they are atheists. The only thing that needs to happen is for the kid to think about whether or not God makes any sense. And not all kids are raised in religious households. I was raised in an agnostic household, and my parents didn't indoctrinate me into anything. But it wasn't like I didn't know about religion either. My grandparents were devoted Christians and I read Bible stories as a kid. I was exposed to religion, and the more I was exposed, the more stupid it seemed. Especially because I liked science, and a lot of religion seemed to contradict science and that made me doubt that any of it was true. I also read a lot of Greek myths and realized that sometimes they seemed to make more sense than what I knew about Christianity, but no one ever took Zeus or Athena seriously. here wasn't anything that all of a sudden made me turn into an atheist. I guess around the time I was in middle school I figured out that I was. But I always lied when I was asked about my religion. I was afraid I'd lose all my friends if anyone ever found out I was an atheist.
I'm glad that there are some kids out there who feel comfortable telling the truth about what they believe.
Of course, when I was fourteen, I would also have cringed to see the English language abused like this.
And my dad always got me really nice Christmas presents. I think the best was the telescope he bought me when I was nine.
