This is the funniest statement in the post. Judeo-Christian principles introduced the world to caring for others, care of the less fortunate, freedom, not stealing, killing, et al. Certainly, this country was based on those principles. Prior to these Judeo-Christian principles, people were eating each other, there was no "civilization" as we know it. If you believe these words, you are an idiot.

As a Jew, I can honestly say THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS JUDEO-CHRISTIAN ANYTHING! Yes, they use significant parts of one of our books, but that does not mean we share the same heritage.
No other civilisation? Mesopotamia. China. Greece. Rome. Also the killing, well there were the crusuades, burning of witches, and throughout the Bible god slaughters many people.
1. Since when has your average American Christian ACTUALLY cared for someone less fortunate?
2. People had a concept of Freedom BEFORE civilization and especially religion, only in "civilized" places i.e. Moses' Egypt, Greece, Rome, Muslim Arabia, pre-Civil-War America, etc. was there ever a concept of slavery.
3. People still steal (I steal office supplies, some people steal from the American Treasury, Haliburton, Blackwater, KBR, hey whatever).
4. An average of at LEAST one person a day is murdered in places like Los Angeles, New York, Detroit, Washington, Baltimore, etc. and hundreds of cities all over the world, even (dare I say especially) where Judeo-Christian beliefs are present.

The Mesopotamians, Babylonians, Egyptians and Chinese would all like to have a word with you about that.
In that case, ALL countries in the world were based on Judeo-Christian principles, even long before Christ was born. Moreover, how do you reconcile charity if you don't accept welfare?
People stoped eating each other long before Christ was born. Look at Greece, Rome, Sumer, India, China, etc............

Then how come much of the old testament is spent killing other tribes and stealing their stuff, and much of the new testament is spent denouncing and spewing hatred for anyone who doesn't conform to your rigid world view?
Even if things were worse before your lot came along, which I frankly doubt, we secular rationals have in turn moved a long way forwards from there.

What has happened to us, I am embarrassed, over 2000 years ago people had the ability to state the following;

This country WAS built upon Judeo-Christian principles, as I have learned. You see, the puritans didn't want freedom OF religion, they wanted freedom of THEIR religion.
And "Judeo-Christian values" basically means: believing in the big book o' lies, so to speak.

Emperor Jimmu established the Chrysanthemum Throne about 660 years before the birth of Christ.
Chinese dynasties rose and fell, all without your precious Judeo-Christian "principles".
Um, I would like to point you to a man named Siddhartha Gautama, you might know him as the Buddha. He lived a good 500 years before the so-called birth of jesus, and around the same time that the Jewish religion was being formed, and his ethical system is much more 'moral' than the judea-xtian one. And it was the ancient Greeks who 'civilized' the human race, again, around the same time as the Buddha. And cannibalism was not that widespread. So, learn some history, because if that's all you're basing your convictions of your religion on, you're in for a shock.
