Quote# 35571
If there is no God, then what do you attribute the death of hundreds of thousands of infants to? Mother nature? What kind of a nature is that, or what kind of a mother would allow hundreds of thousands of infants to die?
When Darwin's daughter died, Darwin could not accept any explaination for why it happened. He could not accept a God who would "allow" his daughter to die, and he could not accept a natural world where it was possible for things like this to happen.
Is life and death determined by the twist and turn of events? Was it by mere chance that hundreds of thousands of infants died, with no reason for it? Were they just in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Well, thank goodness God killed all those infants deliberately.
I'd hate to think they died without being murdered by a pernicious, capricious, egomaniacal deity.

I'm assuming this guy is one of those people who thinks that atheists 'worship the god of nature' because they can't quite imagine that anyone could get by without worshipping something.
I've seen a lot of JohnR7 on this site before, but I'm inclined to think, optimistically perhaps, that this is a poe anyway. I can't seriously believe that someone could so straight-facedly pose an argument like that and miss the fact that it applies to his own stance and not to that of his opponent at all.

I just don't understand how he reconciles "How could a mother allow babies to die" with "God does it for her."

So you would rather believe in a God who murders infants on purpose?

Let me get this right - you are saying that God is responsible for all those deaths? It figures. Read your Bible and you will see what I mean if you note down every time God commanded deaths - sometimes in multiple thousands.

Well, I sure don't attribute those hundreds and thousands of infant deaths to God.

Still not registering...
This is the most retarded thing I have ever heard, and that includes the time someone told me I was immature for thinking men and women are equal.
Holy... fucking... shit... John is one fucked up 7-year-old.
I really hope this is satire, because if not, humans have reached new levels of stupidity.

Mother Nature is just a turn of phrase, and at least she doesn't pretend to be a loving deity who cares deeply for all his creations and then puts so many of them through all kinds of unimaginable suffering.
I'd a million times rather know that drought, cancer, tornadoes and tsunamis are caused by natural "uncreated" forces than by some "loving" wally in the sky who "works in mysterious fucking ways."

Do God likes to kill thousands of infants and this is a good thing?

A nature that is not a person, has no conscience, no will and indeed no identity except the sum of its parts. Nature is not supposed to do anything. There is no goal and definitely no requirement to keep you alive. If you're on the wrong side of natural phenomena, you die.
