Do you get the feeling that "Atheist" is bdn2004's stand-in word for "All People Who Do Bad Things?"
Like this....
Bystander: "That guy just took my wallet!"
bdn2004: "Damn Atheists!"

I did some research on this, and your right. All of the famous Atheists did stuff the fundies hated. Like freeing the slaves, working to get women the right to vote, authors, science.... all that evil shit.

'have any atheists ever done a THING for the betterment of mankind?'
yes. Now name one moral thing a religious person has done that could not have been done by an atheist.

Take your pick from this list:

of course I'm sure bdn2004 would say that none of that stuff is useful...

Oh bullshit, you little twat. Christians are still the majority in this country. They still get to encourage stupidity and medieval morality.

"have any atheists ever done a THING for the betterment of mankind? NAME ONE."
I'll name two: George Carlin, me. I could name some more, a lot more, but I think those two proved it.
PS: not saying that I'm as funny as Carlin. In fact, I'm nowhere close!

Get a load of bdn's comment further down:
"How can a book be written that no one disputes is full of the most profound moral teaching be based on the greatest lie of all time and that lie be perpetuated for a 1000 years by 66 authors? Like how? That by itself should be SOME proof. But that's hardly proof compared to how that teaching has inspired people to build great buildings, compose great music, pioneer science, hop on the Mayflower and form the USA.... My point is atheism doesn't have that affect."

Actually, I keep atheism to myself. Forcing views on other people is more the realm of Jehovah's Witnesses and that one annoying Christian girl I knew.

"Now name one moral thing a religious person has done that could not have been done by an atheist"
Exactly.
I'm not even sure why our spiritual perspective should even be qualified by this, it's argument ad hominem. It's not like converting will make us become charitable and invent college and hospitals or some bs like that.

there seems to be a lot of crossover between the conspiracy theorist and christian fundamentalist camps, it's just one blames aliens/ghosts/evil shadow governments and the other blames atheists/scientists/homosexuals/evilatheistsciencegayshadowgovernments
or demons, can't forget demons

I just wanted to add that since many catholics are baptized early as a baby, technically there are lots of christians doing good stuff, but that's also mainly because
a. they couldn't choose to be christian, they were too young
and
b. not necessarily practicing, they could be atheist, but still baptized.

have any fundamentalists ever done a THING for the betterment of mankind? NAME ONE. They certainly can't just BE...no they have to FORCE their views on us all by tearing down every decent institution in the country because they are "offended". They do it so cowardly too by using the bought and paid for court system so that we the people have no say in the matter.
FIXED!

This computer couldn't possibly exist if Thomas Alba Edison hadn't invented the bulb and hadn't applied the use of electricity(he was actually an agnostic but it counts anyway). And Bill Gates is an atheist. It's funny that you couldn't have posted it without them.

You're using a PC. Running Windows. Created by Bill Gates, richest atheist in the world.
You fail, fail, fail.
(Okay, but he's right that Bill Gates has to force his software on us...)
