[An Egyptian Judge has said that female judges are against the principles of Shari'ah Law.]
"Citizens and others present (in court) will be surprised by the presence of a woman judge. A woman judge will also become pregnant at some point, and that will certainly have an impact on the judiciary’s prestige and on judges’ public image. Giving birth can also have an impact on the cases she is dealing with being dealt with correctly."

Becoming pregnant decreases the judiciary's prestige? Diminishes the public image the judge? Dimishes the public image of other judges? What damages the image and prestige of judges is when they make ridicuous, assoholic decisions.

Translation: We fear and distrust anything new, so nothing new is to be allowed.
I suppose giving birth could impact the cases she is dealing with if she did it during the proceedings, but most women are better planners than that.
Nice to see that Bronze Age bigotry isn't confined to Baptists.
Giving birth can also have an impact on the cases she is dealing with being dealt with correctly.
Unless she decides to plunk that baby down in the middle of the courtroom, no it will not.

Yes, every month.
Wait a minute.....
"Giving birth can also have an impact on the cases she is dealing with being dealt with correctly."
Which is what maternity leave is for.
That's like saying since all humans will eventually have to face their mortality, they will be irrational and so should not decide anything.
Since all batteries will eventually die, they should be used to power electronics.
Since all cars will eventually need repair, it is not worth driving them.
Since I will eventually run out of Gatorade mix powder, I shouldn't have bought any.
I beg to differ *sips Gatorade*
"... plus, she might be on the rag, in which case she will rule badly just to piss everybody off.
Oh, and since she's a woman, she'll believe the first weepy sob story she hears."
This isn't all that fundie. In fact it makes a lot of sense. Basic biology tells us that women perform all cognitive fuctions with their uterus. Once a baby has been passed through there, a lot of the synapses located in the cervix become corrupted, and are unable to correctly process information.
Sorry ladies, but it's for the best that we keep you out of the justice system. The last thing we want is for drug dealers and muggers to be set free because your perception was thrown askew by a need to lactate your ovaries, or whatever it is that you do with yourselves down there.
Why is pregnancy shameful? It's how people exist, dumbass. If you didn't come from some woman's uterus, look down on the rest of us, but otherwise, fuck off. Women have babies. There's nothing wrong with that.
If a woman is heavily pregnant, put her on maternity leave, just the same as a man with medical issues. One can, after all, delay a trial a little, if she should unexpectedly give birth early. Work with her, just as you would a man.
Yay! My first submission (to fstdt, not my husband).
SepticSceptic: If you don't already do stand-up, you should. Phreakin' hilarious.
How would becoming pregnant negatively influence somebody's decision-making power, or, for that matter, her faculties of logic which allow her to make decisions in the first place.
Come on, Islamic World, enter the twenty-first century already! You'll like it, I promise!
