Now they are going to start arguing about the right way to indoctrinate kids.

This is what my mom told me the first time I complained too much about my problems:"dear, I can advice you, help you, comfort you, BUT I can't be yourself in your behalf".

EDUCATION IS NOT THE SAME AS INDOCTRINATION!
Imparting facts is GOOD. Brainwashing is BAD. You're not doing the one you think you are.

How about your son makes his own decision about what happens in his head?

I guess after children stop believing in Santa Claus they need something else fear, not just the thought of receiving coal in your stocking. Why NOT eternal damnation?

I want my son to have control over what goes in his own head, not what's put in there by people who might be on some extreme or other who have their own ideas about indoctrinating kids. That's why I have ensured that he has developed critical thinking skills and has been exposed to a wide variety of viewpoints.
Fixed.

And I want to control my life and remove all fundies and their religion from it. But, since I live in a free country, I cannot do that. Neither can you. Face it, eventually your son is going to become an adult and he will not be under your control. It would be pretty sad if he could recite the bible but lacked any common sense, intelligence or ability to deal with other people.
I'd prefer it if my family never had to hear about your god or your religion, but I don't get a choice in that. Why should you have a choice?

Newsflash: From an international point of view, you don't even HAVE a far left wing in the US.
I mean, most countries in Europe have prominent SOCIALIST parties.
