Quote# 36015

There is a spirit of nature worship that's been around since before the flood and is usually expressed in Paganism. That spirit of nature worship is now growing hugely due to the global warming scare. People are being told that nature is more important than us, and we need to all do our part to preserve nature. We are told that WE are on nature's turf, and it was here first. That's not true according to the Bible. We are told we are not only more important that nature, but that we have dominion over it. Don't let that ideaology get ahold of you. It is not true at all. Jesus will return soon, and global warming (if it were actually true) would have had no time to do anything. So there's no reason to dwell upon it.

Unless we can live in Mars, we have to preserve our planet, in order to survive. What has worship have to do with that?. It's like saying that going to the doctor to get healed from cancer means that you value your body more than anything else.

Doctor Whom

Nature matters because we have to live on this world. Also, if your magic sky daddy gave us dominion over nature, how does the parable of the talents not apply?

You comment reveals that your Bible can't possibly be true. Whatever was supposedly "around be fore the flood" had to have been wiped out by the flood. Unless it was carried on the ark like contraband, in which case your all-powerful and all-knowing god didn't see that hash pipe in someone's pocket.

Doesn't having dominion over something make you responsible for its protection?

Humans are part of the natural world. Or, do you consider yourself to be unnatural, BrianC? I know it's a view I've held about fundies for quite some time.

Oh FFS, can't someone slap some sense into these stupid little wankers?

"There is a spirit of nature worship that's been around since before the flood and is usually expressed in Paganism. That spirit of nature worship is now growing hugely due to the global warming scare."

So? At least nature is evidenced. I've said it before: if you're going to worship something, nature should be at the top of the list. Invisible, intangible, unevidenced entities such as your god certainly aren't worthy of worship.

"People are being told that nature is more important than us, and we need to all do our part to preserve nature."

No shit, jackass. Without "nature" there's no "us" to worry about it.

"We are told that WE are on nature's turf, and it was here first."

Ya think? Guess what else: long after you, I and the rest of humanity is long gone (either having died off from our own stupidity or some natural disaster or, if you're an optimist, because we've left the planet for the stars), nature will still be here.

"That's not true according to the Bible."

Take your Babble and shove it up your ass.

"We are told we are not only more important that nature, but that we have dominion over it."

Which would entail caring for it you twit, not exploiting it any way we can.

"Don't let that ideaology get ahold of you. It is not true at all. Jesus will return soon, and global warming (if it were actually true) would have had no time to do anything. So there's no reason to dwell upon it."

You're a fucking moron if you believe that. I'm not sure how I can phrase that to be any more polite given the topic we're on.

Nature. Can't live without it.

Bible. *snort*

Uhm, even according to the bible, did not plants and animals predate humans by a few days at least?

Sure, do what you want but don't complain to me that your planet is destroyed...

Even according to your bible, nature was here first. We were given dominion over it (i.e. supposed to take care of it).

Jesus promised to return 2000 years ago, you were stood up.

And global warming isn't true? Tell that to the polar bears, or to the now open North West Passage.

Um, we kinda have to LIVE here, you know what I'm saying? It's in our interest to keep the world clean and safe and still full of enough resources to support us. Otherwise, it... doesn't... support... us.

Amazing the kind of scare words fundies will use to combat sound reasoning and common sense. Wanting to minimize the effects of global warming (however much it represents) propagates nature worship? On what planet?

"We are told we are not only more important that nature, but that we have dominion over it. Don't let that ideaology get ahold of you. It is not true at all."

I'm confused. Isn't that the "biblical" view? Does BrianC just suck at communicating?

Let's see your dominion over the next tornado that hits your trailer park.

@Sideshow Bob: I think it's because worship and religion is such an important part of these people's lives that they can't actually distinguish anymore between what does and does not consititue as a religion. In short everything is a religion to them, therefore everything is an a front to them. It's a really fucked up way to live through life.

Oookkaaayy... So, if taking care of the world we live on equates to nature worship, does cleaning your house equate to house worship? Does taking a shower mean you worship yourself?

Are you saying -again- that god's aim sucks so much he didn't manage to kill all pagans even with a flood?

A century ago most Europeans would have argued that the bible gave them dominion over Africa. Would you agree with that or would you rather agree that there are different interpretations of the bible?

Even if you assume that the account of creation in Genesis is correct, how the FUCK was nature not here first?

"We are told that WE are on nature's turf, and it was here first. That's not true according to the Bible."

Was not the earth, and everything on it created prior to humans? In which case, you fail.

That's it- we're fucked.

Between these nutcases (who think that buying a Hummer is the best show of faith you can make) and the business fuckwits, (who know damn well that global warming is happening, but just don't want to lower their profits by taking any action) our habitat is going to continue to get churned into an unlivable mess. And there's nothing we can do to penetrate their twin defenses of insanity and greed.

At what point did we give our most selfish idiots the power to destroy the world?

I received an IM from Jesus yesterday. He says he's unexpectedly hung up, and will be later than expected. He also said to clean up after yourselves.

the stupid, it burns!!

Even a fundie has to admit that it has no idea when the second coming will occur.

It makes perfect sense, then, to keep the world habitable.
