"The point is that video is eyewitness testimony. But so is testimony in books. Video can be faked. Books are actually a more trustworthy medium."

Yup. Just the other day, I saw bug-like aliens invading Earth. But I decided to fight back by joining the "Terran Mobile Infantry."
(Thanks to the late Robert Heinlein and his amazing book, "Starship Troopers.")
*Writes a false testimony backed by lots of scientific jargon and false credentials*
*Uses Blender 3D to create a high-quality fake video of what actually happened*
Now guess which one I could do in just a few hours an print for maybe a dollar?
NOW guess which one would cost me thousands of man-hours in time and millions of dollars in animation and rendering farms?
Yes, that's right, books are a FUCK lot easier to fake.
*twitch* My brain just died a little.....A small part ofme agrees.
Except, of course, anyone can write a book and get it published.
This is a neat post, because while it's dumb, it's not as wrong as it first appears.
The actual content of this post is not wrong, except in how broadly they apply their rules. I can't tell you the number of times I've preferred the accounts preserved in books over those in video.
Beyond that, while video is usually difficult to doctor, the authenticity of older books and manuscripts is actually a very important topic. I would not be too surprised that it would be more difficult to forge documents incriminating someone over forging video to incriminate that same person.

You aren't especially bright, are you?
All second-hand witness, video, eye witness, book, or otherwise is untrustworthy. Thing is, I'd say that books are the easiest to fake since you don't have to go through the troublesome task of lying convincingly or try to fake/edit a video without anyone picking up the off pixels. -_-'
That might explain why you people get all up in arms about books like The DaVinci Code and Harry Potter. Not because they are wrong, but because they are so right and trustworthy.
The word fiction is a very informative word. Look it up.
Books can, and have been edited for content, old versions destroyed, and new edited versions printed.
Wow another fundy that doesn't understand the concept of fiction.
Oh my, what a surprise!
Oh, and due to your extraordinary faith in the written word, please accept one copy of The God Delusion free of charge.
Have a nice day!
So if I write a book that says aliens are controlling the government, you'll actually believe that aliens are controlling the government?
...Yeah. I didn't think so.
I have a 14 inch penis.
I wrote it therefore it must be true.
I'd send you a video of it, but you wouldn't beleive that since it could be fake.
The light novel "All You Need Is Kill" by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Also, the manga adaptation by Takeshi "Death Note" Obata.
A certain film with Tom Cruise Control: who of course is an OT-VIII in $cientology, will blow your fucking mind, then. In more ways than one.
Emily Blunt must be a helicopter blade-wielding 'Mimic'-eviscerating terror: and a broken-horned warrior pony. [/Doug Piranha-levels of sarcasm]
What Tom read when he attained OT-III. So like the Nordic Eddas & Mayan Popol Vuh, what is the basis of $cientology doctrine must be fact then: and - going by your own logic - you are forced to accept as fact what L. Ron Hubbard wrote whilst 'Drinking lots of Rum, and popping Pinks and Greys'.
No 'Teach the Controversy' required, then: to annihilate your entire 'argument' jckff4skin.
Confused?
