I respect atheists like Nietzsche, who recognize and understand the implications of their worldview. If I believe that I'm the end result of two rocks colliding into each other billions of years ago, please don't preach to me about sending the $20 I'm going to use to buy a sack of marijuana to some starving kids in Africa...

You know, if you want to have some fun, I think it may actually be possible to read Nietzsche and interpret him as remaining a believer. It's just a difference of "There is no light provided, nor has there ever been. We must make our own to light our way" vs "There once was a light provided, but it's now so distant we can never again see by its glow. We must make our own." Or, in other words, that he believes we must truly pick up the mantle given to us by Adam and Eve -- our having to survive without God -- as soon as we stop living in memories of God and see that he's been missing. But there's no need to have so much fun. For one thing, Nietzsche was never a nihilist.
And the rock banging? You're a genius! Deep insight, you've got there. I'll have to ponder the implications.
