I watched bits and pieces of the "Simpson’s" the other day.
The episode was about the end times, and how Christians are trying to predict the Rapture. Homer tried to pinpoint the day of the rapture only to find out he was wrong. Anyways my point is that they were making fun of us "Christians" and how we believe that those who have repented of theirs sins and have a relationship with Jesus will escape the tribulation. They were saying when the rapture happens everyone will be "left below" instead of "left behind." Homer was running around telling people to repent of their sins because judgment is coming, the rapture is coming and so forth.
I don’t want to go into the full detail but i must say it was sad to see how the enemy is preparing the world for the Antichrist and how is making us believe we are fake and can not be trusted. After a non Christian sees this "rapture" episode of the Simpson’s, will most likely not take it serious when a Christian tells him/her it is the truth that judgment is coming and the rapture.

as far as the "left below", "left behind" is a copywritten book. They're not allowed to use that term without permission. Neither are you BTW.

And in the episode, the rapture did come. Homer was raptured, saw his family suffering, and asked God to put everything back to the way it was and hold off on this rapture thing for a while.

Simpsons has to be one of the most religious shows on TV right now. Well besides 700 club.

They've been doing that for quite some time now. The Flanders character is one big caricature of fundies.

This is called satire. It's a subtle form of humor so I'm not surprised you don't quite get it.

You fail to realize that other than a tiny minority of Christians nobody takes the "Rapture" seriously. Non-Christians don't because it's absurd and Christians don't because it's not part of the fucking religion since it's nowhere in the Bible.

Every one of you deep down knows the truth that there is one God who sent his Son to redeem man and soon to redeem the earth. He placed that knowledge in you himself. Many of you know what the Bible says. It's quoted and misquoted often.
You "laugh" at our hope to be taken from this horrible world, but you have no idea what's coming. Yet... You can't save the earth, there is nothing you can do.

While trolling around RR why don't you take some time to check out the news sections and how they are related to Bible prophesy.
The Bible is no fairy tale. We have done massive research on Bible prophesy and found links to others who have as well. The end times prophesy are coming to life right before our eyes. It's not that we "want" the world to end. It is that God has said it would end and also said HOW it will end, so we KNOW it will end. What he said is unfolding daily if you look for it.
The Bible also gave us a promise, that when we see ALL these things begin to happen THEN Jesus would soon return. But he would return in the clouds FIRST to collect those who are his BEFORE judgment is given to "the world". To keep us from wrath.
Isaiah 26:17-21
1 Thes 4:13-18 (Here the rapture is not named, but details are given as to how it will happen.)
1 Corinth.15:35-58
Just like in Exodus when Moses told the Hebrews to place the lambs blood on the doors to keep the spirit of death away from their first born sons. Everyone who believes in Jesus has been "marked/covered with his blood" to be "Passed over" during God's wrath.
Romans 5:9 "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."
1 Thessalonians, chapter 1:10 " And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."

We know what is coming for this world, and we know Jesus is coming to take us out of it.
This is why we fundies think it's foolish to try to save the world. Jesus is coming believe it or not. The question you need to answer for yourself is, is he coming to take you to a wonderful place, or is he coming in judgement of someone who knows him but turned their back on him?

Junie B, dear, your preaching is wasted on us.

There are many faiths present on FSTDT. I'm an atheist, as are many others. There are plenty of agnostics. And also, believe it or not, there are plenty of Christians.

The difference is, Junie B, that they don't follow a twisted, literal interpretation of their holy book. They don't follow a non-Biblical, end-times loving, heretical, false set of teachings that a handful of nutjobs pulled out of their collective ass in the 1800s.

Believing the world is going to end Any Day Now(tm) and that you'll be in a Better Place(tm), and that everyone that you can't convert to your One True Religion(tm) is going to hell is just a little on the insane side.

And FSTDT is here to point and laugh at the whole affair.

Now please, leave this place.

Junie B, I don't think you understand us at all. Yes, sometimes we laugh at the things that get posted over here from RaptureReady, because they sound crazy and ranty. But some of the things that find their way here from that place are just gut-wrenchingly sad and disturbing.

A little while ago, there was a post from a woman whose eight-year-old daughter told her that she hated this world and wanted to "go home" to heaven. Eight years old. And the mother accepted these feelings as normal, calling her "world-weary"! She didn't try to comfort her possibly suicidally-depressed child, or get her into counseling, because her beliefs teach her to hate this world and this life.

This world isn't "horrible." It just *is*. It's everything--good, bad, and neutral. But if you keep expecting to see the world as horrible and evil, because it doesn't compare to your imagined ideal of heaven, then that's the only way the world will ever be for you. I personally think that's a fatalistic, self-destructive, and wasteful way to live your life.

I don't bear you any ill will for misunderstanding us. I hope you live a long and happy life, and that you one day learn to appreciate the world for the good it has, rather than resenting it for what it doesn't have.

Read your own Bible: Matthew, Luke, John and Peter all predict the end of the world in the first century AD. It didn't happen then, it won't happen today, or tomorrow or the day after, no matter what your death-cult demagogues tell you.

Incidentally, I know, not believe that the Bible is a collection of nonsensical, vicious, hate-filled contradictory folk-tales invented by tribes of paranoid bronze-age goat-herders to justify their own behavior. It was compiled, edited and then repeatedly re-edited to keep the amoral religious establishment in money and power. An industry with no product to sell, kept in business on the premise 'there's one born every minute'. Of course, any business that stands still will fail in the marketplace, you need to introduce new products, like The Rapture.

And Junie B, I particularly dislike being told what you think I really know, it's arrogance of the worst sort.

RR is a death cult, albeit a passive one.

If someone told the RR crowd that the muslims believed that Allah was going to take a choosen group of his people (say martyrs) into heaven leaving the rest of us to suffer, then they'd mock or be angry : certainly not the "OH DON'T QUESTION" attitude they expect...

and Skyknight: this bunch don't give a rat's turd for anyone other than themselves, not even each other!

and @Junie B: we note all this fundyism because there are those in power who are cloest fundies, and who would love to overturn the secular society we live in and introduce a theocracy.

PS I'm an atheist for all practical purposes: I can't imagine a god as petty as the Xian, Islam, or Jewish one. If one does exist, I doubt it will care what I do in bed

I'm with the other regulars on this. I don't like being told what you think I really want. That IS pure arrogance. Also, if you don't like this "horrible" world, then end it for yourself and stop spilling your fatalistic dribblings onto our forum. This is a satire site, we really can't take seriously anything a silly cult like RR says anyway, so you are wasting your time.

We get fundie trolls like you every so often and we hear all of them out, challenge them, and they get strips torn off them before they slink back into oblivion. Conversely, people who sign up to RR or other Xian forums with the intention of challenging people like you often get banhammered instantly, which shows how insecure in your own beliefs you guys are if you can't even listen to a different opinion, even from a troll.

I like to think of RR as a meeting place for emo teenagers, whose repaste consists of how everything, like, you know, sucks. But I find it extremely sad that in reality its not teenagers, but grown adults willing to swallow a myth that nothing on earth is worth having, and nothing is worth living for. It is this world view these stunted adults are passing on to their impressionable young children, as tigerdreams mentioned, which is incredibly insane.

The more passionately you try to defend your beliefs the more it sounds like a childish delusion steeped in the arrogant assumption that everybody who is not like you is somehow mentally, spiritually or emotionally deficient, and is going to hell. I beg to differ. It is you who is spiritually deficient if you believe your precious life is worth nothing and that the only comfort worth having is the comfort of your fictional skydaddy.

How utterly arrogant. However, I'm sure believing that helps you hold on to your shaky faith by denying that there really are people who have completely different views.

We have done massive research on Bible prophesy and found links to others who have as well.

Have you read the massive research done by believers in centuries long gone? They were certain that events in their own time were the ones predicted to herald the end. They were wrong, so why should anyone believe you?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Rapture Ready is a cult of clinically depressed people who want to wallow in their wish for death rather than deal with it constructively and get on with life. They convince themselves that there is some great purpose to their feelings of hopelessness and that being so depressed they can't wait to die somehow makes them superior to those who actually enjoy life.

Junie, my problem with RR is their arrogance in thinking that "They" are allowed by God to pick who is a "true" Christian and who is not. And then to have the unmitigated gall to base that choice on whether a person believes in some of the Bizarre interpretations of Biblical scriptures(while claiming to follow the Bible literally) that were developed 1800 years after the founding of Christianity. That is why the vast majority of Chrisitans reject it(Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, etc). That and the fact that Jesus said that "no man knows the hour"!PS To me the whole rapture thing is nothing more than a scam started by a nineteenth century publicity hungry fraud claiming to preach God's word, has become a joke for all non-Chrisitans when another fruitloop falls flat on his face predicting the "end of the world", and is pushed for huge profits by the venal crowd at "Left Behind".
