Quote# 363

[On the individual books comprising the Bible being written by different authors over the span of many years]

Just because it says that each book was written by a different person doesn't mean that it was.

Think of it this way, if the record that "The Inferno" was written by Dante, not just starring Dante, was lost during publication, people might have falsely accepted it as fact. We might have the Book of Dante.

Now apply that kind of thinking to the books that did get in there, and you'll have a good idea why folks don't take every word of the bible at face value. Just because someone has written a bunch of pretty verses doens't make them inspired by a magick man in the sky.

Yes, and Hermoine Grainger writes the Harry Potter books and is kept locked in a cellar by the evil witch J.K. Rowling.

What the heck is fundie about this? If anything, it's a marvelous example of how the Bible should NOT be taken as gospel, so to speak.

squareandrare is an atheist. The reason their's nothing fundy about this, is because the author isn't a fundy.

The Book of Dante probably wouldn't contradict itself as much.
