Some Christians like to add in a blurb that says "Well, my cross is a faulty car or an annoying sin, or blah blah blah..." But if you were in the audience at the time listening to Christ speak, you would know he was speaking about the cross being a literal physical death. The cross was an execution device. Death to self. Death to your wants and needs. Hatred of self, even.
Is this what we see from "American" Christians today??
Christians in China in the underground church... You bet. They meet together for fellowship and they know they are risking prison time, torture, even death.
Christians in the Middle East.... Yep. Also risking their very lives and risking disownment from their families if they become Christians.
Sometimes I pray that persecution would come to America... REAL persecution. To separate the wheat from the tares.
How many would be left standing?

"Not fundie. A real fundie would insist that a faulty car was evidence of persecution. This poster understands the difference between real persecution and fundie whining."
what are you, a fundie fundie? just because s/he doesnt have typical rapture ready brand persecution complex doesnt mean its not a fundamentalist

The poster may be a fundie but there is nothing about the quote that is particularly fundie. In fact, it seems to be anti-fundie in the same way we often are, pointing out the difference between real persecution and mild annoyances.
So you're not a real christian unless you are under threat of death? So much for freedom of religion.
Thankfully though, that means there are no real christians in my country. That's a relief.

Try to keep up... that hasn't been happening for the last 20 fucking years.

Atheist in the Middle East... risking their lives and disownment if they become Atheists.
Oh, and in the US, they get the whole disownment thing... with the occasional risking of the life since certain Christians think it's their duty to kill them.
That's easy - give atheists tons of special privelages and we'll be sure to persecute.
Oh that's right, we won't. That's why you guys need so many denominations, so you can persecute yourselves.
Let's turn a megachurch into another Coliseum, get some lions and some TV cameras. Presto! Self-financing, religious persecution, Reality TV.
Would that satisfy you?

Who are you trying to impress? God, or your peers?
I hate to say this, but I agree with the guy. I've met Christians from persecuted regions (Egypt, China, Iraq) and they are much nicer people than the American Fundie.
This guy's actually AGAINST the standard fundie persecution complex. He's stating that while there are Christians being persecuted, the ones who are often howling about it are not them.
That's the best I could glean from this.
Well duh, of course they're wishing for persecution. They've never actually experienced it themselves, and have been convinced by their puppetmasters that it will be a rapturous experience... What is striking is that they really are not able to extrapolate from current experiences and other acquired knowledge, what it *could* be like, which makes me wonder how they have the intelligence to actually find food. (Maybe if we can discover the mechanism we'll be closer to a cure.)
Possibly you could say he's against the 'standard fundie complex' but that may be giving them too much credit. I don't think their beliefs are really so coherent. If you told this guy you disagreed with him, he might consider that being persecuted.
not fundie. they feel like christians aren't strong enough in their beliefs and have lost the real meaning of their religion, which is a valid, non-fundie sentiment. the last two lines are a little over the top, but all in all i would rate this a very low fundie, if it is at all.
They sit here in America and Europe and cry oppression, but I don't see a single one of them going to the Middle East to witness for the lord and convert them Muslim heathens.
What gives, fundies? Put up or STFU.
Christians in the middle East are 4% of the population and from Christian families. In fact, conversions from Islam, if that's what you're meaning, are relatively rare.
And in China, even though is true that Christians are particularly targeted by the Chinese government(together with Falung Gong), they don't live in the closet, like the first Christians in the Roman Empire or, to certain extent, in Albania during the cold war. Their persecution consists in restriction of their basic rights, unfair inprisonment of some of their members as a mean of pressure, etc..............but they're free to worship and don't have to "hide".
And don't be so hypocrite. Or don't your fellow men cry every time they don't let them impose their beliefs to others, "that's the persecution of the last days"
I can almost guarantee this person wouldn't be left standing, but it doesn't really matter, since praying for the torment and death of your own Christian friends is surely a grievous sin in the eyes of Christ.

The problem is not that they're being persecuted for being Christians, but for trying to get others to submit to God instead of the State... in it's own way, it's trying to sow dessension, so I can understand the Chinese Gov. trying to crack down on it.
Ah, now we come to the meat of it.
You don't have to face an enemy to be tested, chum. Why don't you overcome yourself to found a soup kitchen or something? If your brand of Christianity is waiting for the Beast's legions to rap on the door, you're not helping anyone, including yourself or Jesus.
"Sometimes I pray that persecution would come to America... REAL persecution."
Not being allowed to 'Persecute' others not exactly like you =/= real Persecution.
...besides, define 'Perscution', you Raptard cunt?
'The Puritans didn't leave England to escape persecution, but to find a country in which they could freely persecute others'
-Gore Vidal
I've met and talked with a survivor of the Nazis' ultimate death factory: Auschwitz. You fundies know nothing of Persecution. And until you do experience exactly what happened to all those in the Holocaust - which includes homosexuals - you don't have the right to think that you're being 'Persecuted'.
And this cuntbrain wanting to be 'Persecuted' is in itself extremely telling. Of the hyper-perversion - Masochism - of those on Ruptured Retards.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
