[how can a loving god send someone to hell?]
He can do it without pity or mercy. When judgment day comes, there won't be a tear shed by the saved for the unsaved, because we will see and understand as our God does.

So...the saved will be like God...emotionless and sadistic bastards willing to see people suffer for eternity for failing to live up to arbitrary standards that you had the good fortune of adhering to, largely due to being raised in a point in time and space where those standards were magically transported to mankind by this remorseless punisher through the use of a dozen people who we need to accept as the ONLY true prophets throughout history with absolutely no rational reason to do so...and you and your neighbors conveniently take it as truth, despite all other possibilities! And anyone who doesn't jump to this obvious conclusion is less than human to you...isn't that right?
That is just wonderful. You know...hell is preferrable to having to learn to tolerate you vindictive a-holes for eternity..
He can do it with all the love of a primitive tribal nomad celebrating the death of his enemies.
That's how good God is. On a civilised scale, he gets a score of two out of 100... the two points is for not being as bad as it is possible to be in view of the fact he doesn't know he's doing wrong. He could have got another two points just for getting his name right, but alas, he didn't.
And you're trying to claim that Satan is the evil one? Now I see why he's always trying to lure us away from God- it's for our own good! In light of this, i'm going to take all this "Lord of Darkness" stuff with a pinch of salt from now on. Thank you Tall Timbers, you've driven another soul away from God. Won't Jesus be pleased with you?
Evil, disturbing, and creepy, and all that, but not very original. We've heard this a million times before. This guy is stuck in a rut.
there won't be a tear shed by the saved for the unsaved
Including your own parents, children, grandchildren, siblings and spouses?
Tsk! Climb aboard the Hellbound train, TT, cos your Jesus ain't gonna like your lack of love for your neighbours or the little children. You forgot he walked among sinners and called the children to him...and he condemned the proud and self-righteous...didn't you?
We laugh and laugh and then it hits you PEOPLE ACTUALLY BELIEVE THIS.
It might as well say
"and king Triton uses his trident to turn people into mermaids except the unworthy who've turned into squid and the mermaids will live out eternity in Atlantica"
And be TOTALLY GODDAMN SERIOUS.
So, your reward is to become your god? I realize many of you fundies already think you are god, or have a more direct link to him than anyone else, but to actually become him?
If that is really your goal you are more fucked up than I even thought.
He can do it without pity or mercy.
Strange, but I always thought that love kinda requires pity and/or mercy... or at least, a lack of them shows an inability to love.
*beats up tall timbers*
"Cry for mercy or pity all you want... I'm just going to keep lovingly beating the living crap out of you for eternity"
Ah, the god of love. Heard so much about him, never met him. The god of incredibly vicious hate and fear, on the other hand...
Good, so if God sends all you rapture ready clowns to hell for following a false cult and arrogant self-righteousness in condemning others, you'll say, "Hey, no hard feelings"?
Other “loving” quotes in the thread...
[...The world is lucky that I am not God. I would not be gracious at all. I would start everyone out with a time out in hell just so all would know not to disrespect me.]
[...We're all lawbreakers. None should be saved. All should be in the lake of fire. Since we've all gone against God, yes, it is right for God to send people to hell, but He is gracious when people trust in the payment Jesus made on the cross... pretty nice of God to save some!]
This puts me in mind of the "fancy of abomination"--the idea that one of the benefits of Heaven was PRECISELY to watch the torment of the condemned. (I think Tertullian was a big proponent of the idea, although he was living in the thick of some sort of discord sea...)
Maybe what we're supposed to do is oppose BOTH God and Satan? Someone call up the kami and the neterw, see if they're willing to lend support...
So thinks the mindset of an ancient, hard desert people with no tolerance for divergence from strict traditions.
Strange how (much of) the human race has grown up while the Jewish, Christian and Islamic gods are still stuck in the 1000s BCE.
"Sinner, this is going to hurt me more than it's going to hurt you."
*Throws sinner into a lake of fire*
"Well, whaddaya know, that didn't hurt me one bit! Tralala~!"
Confused?
