Quote# 36708

It's quite a shame more people don't believe in Creation. Still, no one has answered how the creatures got the brain to think to evolve. They couldn't evolve it, because without a brain, they couldn't think to evolve it.

One second, I'm going to think really hard and evolve lazers that shoot out of my eyes.

Do you think... if I think hard enough... I could evolve a bottle opener on my right wrist? I think that'd be pretty cool.

Heh.

"It's quite a shame more people don't believe in Creation."

Yeah, much in the same way it's a shame more people son't believe in the tooth fairy and the great pumpkin.

"Still, no one has answered how the creatures got the brain to think to evolve."

As viruses and bacteria prove, an organism doesn't need a mind to evolve. Neither genetic mutation nor natural selection are directed or optional.

"They couldn't evolve it, because without a brain, they couldn't think to evolve it."

Indeed, but then again, they don't need to think of it.

With typical circular logic, ie "The bible is the word of god because the bible says so", another fundy goes off the rails.

Just when you thought fundies couldn't come up with a stupider argument against evolution, they top themselves yet again! "Evolution is impossible because you have to have a brain first before you can think of how to do it".

I stared at my hand for a whole year, and I didn't grow that sixth finger I've always wanted.

Wow. Pony has disproved the theory of evolution.

She clearly has not evolved a brain!

This is a new one. I never realized that someone would be so ignorant of what evolution actually is to assume that evolution is dictated by willpower alone. Oh well...I am gonna go put a gun in my mouth now...

The brain bit allows most of us to comprehend the larger process of evolution, etc. Brain is still a non-accessory for the bible-afflicted.

Thinking causes evolution?

Damn it I should of just though my wisdom teeth into non-existence. 4 hours of surgery, without being under, was not fun.

You need to look up the concept of "SNP"... no, first you should look up "mutation"... no, first you should look up the concept "gene"... or just go to grammar school, you schmuck.

If I think hard enough about it, shall I be able to evolve means for smacking people upside the head over the interwebs?

Well, you've certainly proved Lamarick wrong.

Now, if you can just advance your thinking a few more decades, you might really be onto something.

Go to FAIL. Go directly to FAIL. Do not pass "WIN," Do not collect 200 Intarnetz.

Yeah, obviously, this person doesn't need a brain for much. Why should it be any different for a distant ancestor of the same intelligence level?

Great. Now let me think really hard for a larger penis.

Pony, evolution only requires creatures with beneficial mutations to survive till reproduction and pass that beneficial trait onto the next generation. They don't need willpower or intelligence for that... I didn't go "hmm, I think I'll grow 11 fingers instead of 10" in the womb.

Evolution is not a conscious decision, so it happens without the brain having to think about whether to evolve or not.

Sort of like you.

Evolution doesn't require thought. It requires necessity.
