It's not just the internet and videos.
I was searching our library website for books on early church history - and all the heretical, gnostic, liberal, fantastical garbage that came up was amazing.
Trying to find the truth is harder and harder.

Like the Crusades, the stifling of science, specifically geocentrism, and the number of schisms and re-interpretations and re-translations of the infallible Bible, which is of course always right, even after several ambiguities and cock-ups.
Don't forget anything that mentions the fact that the Rapture isn't actually in the Bible!
Ah, fundies. So terrified of anything that would shatter their pathetic, close-minded worldview.
Also: Reason&Hope? The Reason part is blatantly laughable, and Hope? All you Rapture Ready jackasses 'Hope' for is the end of the world!
Uh, all that "heretical, gnostic, liberal, fantastical garbage IS the history of the early church.
"Trying to find the truth is harder and harder"
Especially when the "truth" is fictional garbage that suits your world view, but isn't grounded firmly in history, or even reality for that matter. But, I am sure that you can find some propaganda around that suits your preconceived notions. That'll make you happy, I'm sure.
@Joe - I love that quote, and will promptly steal it.
What does this person want? A book to tell them that early Christians were all nice to each other? Not going to happen in a real history book.
I've just tried three times to find the OP on Rupture Ready and it seems to have disappeared. Maybe they don't want people reading actual, real, historically correct Church history?
Or maybe the OP was too bat-shit insane even for them? Is that even possible?
On the one hand, it's encouraging that for once one of them is attempting to find out about their own religion's history. On the other, they are obviously not going to recognise truth if it bit them on the arse.
Jeez don't you people realize that the very first Christians were just like modern day Baptists! /sarcasm
Seriously, we don't know all that much about the "early church" but we do know that there were heated debates over what Jesus said. Of course, the differences between Christian groups today are nothing compared to the radical differences between Christians living during the Roman Empire.
Oh! Poor fundie. Finding books that disagree with your mythology?
Let me guess, some of those books were historically accurate and you didn't like the truth?
That's one of the reasons those that discover this site are horrified. People tell them the truth and give them a little history of their faiths backgroud.
You lot seperate yourself from the Catholics mainly to get away from their nasty history then find your own shorter history is vile also. The only reason churches aren't responsible for as much violence and cruelty is : You've never been as big or powerful as them and never in control.
If you were, you'd perhaps be worse (Salem witch hunts etc)
Let's face it, most you ignore or rewrite your past
Let me guess, you tried to find "rapture" in the early church history section and came up blank! And you are too brainwashed and stupid to follow that fact to it's correct and logical conclusion. RAPTURE IS A NON-SCRIPTURAL CULT, NOT AN EARLY CHRISTIAN CORE BELIEF!!! It is not in the BIBLE, was not part of the early church's beliefs, and is not around for the first 1800 YEARS of Christianity. "Trying to find the truth is harder and harder." WRONG, it is damn impossible if you refuse to accept the truth.
That's because early church history is full of that stuff and what the orthodox Christians did to them.
Oh, and evangelical fundieism has only been around for about 200 years
Reality has a well known liberal bias. ~Stephen Colbert.
Get thee back under thy rock.
Edit: Damn Methologica beat me to it.
Yeah, all of Church history was warm and happy, it's only because all of those hereics researched the subject and wrote books about it that the world has the crazy idea that there were some disagreements, forgeries, lying and even (gasp) some violence in the early Church.

No kidding!
Sadly it's all been downhill from there really!
The truth is out there. So stop running away from it, grow up, take off the blinders, and accept it you moron.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
