Well, in evangelical Christianity, the view is that we have to choose to be saved by our own free will. We have to ask God to save us, otherwise God is not respecting the free will he gave us.

OK, as I often say, it's still bullshit, but as we know Christianity is the one true bullshit, as oppsed to all the other, false bullshit.
