Superstitions are mostly people who are uneducated and fearful. In my experience anyway. It goes deep here, cause of the local Native American lores too. What I do not understand is those who claim to be Christian, being superstitious. There are no salt fairies, no malevolent, or nice force that does things for or against you at the whim of nothing other than a person sees a black cat, walks on a crack in a sidewalk or you accidentally knock the salt over. Jesus came to free us from the bondage of man made junk and to show us that the only one who is out there for us is God.

Ah, I'm a bit superstitious loo. For example, I think it's bad luck to post things on the internet after 5 shots of tequila! (Don't spill the salt!) Lizzie doesn't share this superstition.

Superstition is defined by psychologists as the conviction of a relationship between two events when, in fact, no such relationship exists. This dynamic may, but does not need to, involve unquantifiable factors such as luck, fate, karma and incorporeal beings.

Therefore Elizabeth, every time you attribute something you like to god, every time you attribute something you don't like to the devil, every time you perform a deed specifically to court the favor of your god or thwart the attentions of your devil, you are by definition acting out of superstition.
