imho, the reason that the rapture idea receives so much criticism/mockery is because . . .it's true.
Aside from the fact that it is taught in Scripture, outright mockery and rudeness toward those who are expecting it to happen are also pretty reliable indicators that it's true.

of course, as with other unfounded claims that have to be perpetually altered or vague to begin with to give the appearance of credibility, the crazier it sounds and the more people call you nuts, the more likely your ridiculous claim is correct.
No no everyone, Lynn is right. It isn't fair to mock the mentally retarted.
[My apologies to mentally handicapped people the world over.]

::laughing:: No, no, you see, we criticize and mock because you people [strike]look like[/strike] are such fools. To be honest, the criticism and mockery writes itself, since you do such a good job of providing material.

No, it was *never* taught in Scripture. The "Rapture" is an idea that is, what, about 200 years old? (Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.) The mockery and rudeness are what you should *expect* for believing such a heaping pile of shit, and insisting that your shit is the One True Shit, and all of us "godless heathens" need to conform to the standards of your shit, else we're in deep shit.
"imho, the reason that the rapture idea receives so much criticism/mockery is because . . .it's true."
"Hey, dude, check out those boobs! Aren't boob awesome?"
"Aren't boobs awesome? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?"
"Wha?"
"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU!!!"
"what the.."
"YOU'RE MAKING THIS UP, HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY BELIEVE THAT BOOBS ARE AWESOME?!!?!?"
"i'm just saying, it's.. just my personal opinion..."
"DAMN RIGHT IT'S JUST YOUR OPINION!!! MY OPINION IS THAT YOUR OPINION IS FUCKING WRONG!!!!"
Scientific Fact:
Boobs are awesome.
God does not exist, all religion is a lie
if you mock that statement, or criticise it, it must be true. If you don't criticise it, i guess that you agree.
Nah, the reason it receives so much mockery and disdain is because it's insane, and since "Heavens Gate" is gone, you Rapture Ready Retards are one of the biggest death cults around.
In that case, can we say that Friends or Seinfield are true too?, or Fred Phelps or the president of Iran, for that matter?
"imho, the reason that the idea that god doesn't exists receives so much criticism/mockery is because . . .it's true.
Aside from the fact that there is no evidence of god's existence, outright mockery and rudeness toward those who are atheist are also pretty reliable indicators that it's true. "
Fixed. Like how that works, Lynt?
Revelation is like Nostradamus - you can make it mean anything you want. So, no, it's not taught in scripture, and the majority of Christians don't interpret Revelation like the RR loonies do.
Sometimes outright mockery and rudeness are reliable indicators that most people think you're nuts, too.
Aside from the fact that it is taught in Scripture,
- None of the early creeds mention it, and no church gave it any credence until the 1830s. However, Christians always held that revelation ceased at the death of Saint John about the yea 110 AD.... So who revealed the Rapture? Nobody whose word is worth believing.
outright mockery and rudeness toward those who are expecting it to happen are also pretty reliable indicators
that it's true.
- They are nothing of the kind. Try hard, really hard, not to be so lacking in logic.
Fundy Lynn demonstrates the wholesale corruption of the concept of Truth.
And assuming that the Rupture is the point here:
It. Won't. Ever. Happen. Take that to the bank.
Actually the "reason that the rapture idea receives so much criticism/mockery is because" it HAS ABSOLUTELY NO, NADA, NONE, basis in Scripture!!!! And "those who expect it to happen" are mocked because they are stupid enough to believe it is in the Bible, and to judge other people's Christianity by this false filter invented by a fake religious cult-leader in the 1830's.
The scriptural basis for the Rapture:
"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
-- 1 Thess 4:16-17
Note, however, that there is NO mention that this Rapture has anything whatsoever to do with the events described in Revelation. There is certainly no scriptural evidence that it will precede the Tribulation.
