Quote# 3774

You, obviously, don't know God's Word, the Bible. The Bible NEVER condemns slavery; there are many commands against fornication.

...Not helping your case that the Babble is my word.

Blue Lithium

Which says more about the Bible than either slavery or fornication.

It's not that the Bible says slavery is wrong, it's that the Bible is wrong.

Can't fault you for being honest, I guess.

"The Bible NEVER condemns slavery..."

Of course not?
Why do you think slavery was mentioned dozens of times?

Meaning your God cares more about who is diddling who with mutual consent than some asshole with a whip beating another man to death for not working fast enough.

Real justice.

Which is one of the many, many problems we have with it. It doesn't condemn things that are really hurtful, discriminatory and against basic human rights, but it does condemn things that harms no-one*, just to keep people from having some innocent fun.

The Bible is more concerned with the marriage bit than with the consenting bit. Two unmarried people having consensual sex is worse, in the eyes of the Bible, than some man raping a girl, as long as they're either married or he pays her father and marries her afterward.

* As long as it's meant as pre-marriage fornication. Extra-marital affairs do harm the spouse and are seriously disrespectful. (Open marriages and swingers are not included here, of course, as it's not really infidelity if it's a consensual agreement.)

Two good reasons to chuck it on the bonfire, right there. There are many more, but those two will suffice.

Because God gave us free will so that other people could forcibly remove it. Sounds fair to me.

The Bible gets morality wrong on slavery. Why are you still bothering with religion?

3/28/2013 4:22:27 PM

You don't know that those two words have nothing to do with each other?

10/22/2016 4:34:53 AM

Wow, those are some of the reasons (literally, down to the exact words) I would use for not following the bible.

"The Bible NEVER condemns slavery"

...and therein lies the problem.

But abolitionist William Wilberforce proved to be more righteous than your 'God': and he was a Christian.

A Hull man - and thus local hero - doing good: by disobeying his own God's 'Word'.

Who'd a thunk it...?!
