[Selfish halfwit would choose superstition over daughter's life:]
Why I’d let my daughter die before allowing her to have a blood transfusion.
Rebecca Whelan adores her 13-month-old baby daughter Reese -- but she would let her die before giving permission for her to have a blood transfusion.
"One day when she's older she might look at me and ask 'would you have done that to me?' I would have to tell her yes.
"If she chooses not to take up my beliefs and is upset with me for that, it would be very sad -- but I have to stand by my faith.".
<snip>
Put in her shoes, Rebecca says that she too would prioritise her faith over the life of her child. The moment she learned she was expecting, she made an appointment with her maternity hospital, the Rotunda in Dublin, and told them categorically that she did she want her life, or that of her baby, to be saved by a blood transfusion, in the event of a medical difficulty.

These people should be sterilized. I guarantee you Rebecca is as pro-life as they get and would blow up an abortion clinic if given a chance, to "save the babies". Yet, she'd let her own daughter die rather than use a life saving, safe, effective treatment.
The hypocrisy of fundies is the trait that makes them beyond impossible to deal with.
People like this should not be parents. If you can't think of your child before all else, you shouldn't have one.
This is one of the (many) reasons I'm not Christian. Any religion that teaches you to NOT value the life of your own child...
Ugh. It's sickening.
fitness = 0
selection = 1
If it weren't for Jehovah's Witnesses converting people constantly, they'd all die out. Population genetics at its best, really.
One day when she's older she might look at me and ask 'would you have done that to me?' I would have to tell her yes.
Kinda difficult if she's DEAD, idiot.
Headache:
When one of there lamebrains brings a child to a hospital in the US and mentions the transfusion thing, the hospital does the transfusion anyway, knowing a judge will automatically issue a court order allowing a transfusion against the parent's wishes after the fact.
Thankfully, in Canada, the life of the child is given priority. If a transfusion is needed, a transfusion is given, and the objecting parent can take it up with the orderlies.
she too would prioritise her faith over the life of her child.
These people are dangerous. Their religion is dangerous. The goal, or at least the unconsious overall direction, of this religion and many others like it seems to be to strip all aspects of humanity from its adherents - self determination, a personal sense of morality, respect for life, free thought & inquiry, the pursuit of happiness, even simple self preservation.
@Mister Spak
Same thing here in the Netherlands, the Government takes temporary custody of the child during transfusion, the parents are completetly ignored, as they should be, stupid selfish ignoramous assholes the lot off them.
Having needed a transfusion myself, I feel pretty strong about this one,otoh... there is a silver lining to it for me, Jehova's witnesses are pretty quick to beat the retreat if they try to salvage the ruined remnants of my twisted 'soul' :D
Telling them I would have been dead if they had anything to say about it quickly stops any discussion.
There should be some kind of written test before people are allowed to breed.
Question: Would you sacrifice your child because an invisible being quoted in a 4,000 year old book tells you certain things are wrong?
Answer: Yes. INSTANT FAIL
Same article: "To us, it is about nothing more than being loyal to God. It is not an emotional decision."
Not an emotional decision? It sure as hell is not a rational one!
this woman ought to be repeatedly stabbed and beaten, and then forcibly given blood transfusions for said stabbings and beatings.
this cycle should be repeated as often as necessary.
"

If you put your religion before your child then you don't "adore" them. You don't even remotely love them.
This is just a way of proving faith.
Martyrdom by proxy.
She let her daughter die thinking people would see her great faith.
Back in the day there was a group of christians called the "hissing christians", these people would go into pagan temples and start hissing and cause other kinds of disruptions while people were worshiping. Often these people were killed on the spot or were executed by the authotities.
They probably sat that this guarantees heven.
Oh my faith is so awesome i will go provoke some pagins in to killing me just to show you.
This is massively stupid but not as bad as the woman letting her daughter die to show off her faith.
Marterdom by proxy.
Confused?
