“The Constitution of the United States calls for a separation of church and state — it never said anything about a separation of church from state,” Langford said. “You don’t wanna pray? Fine. Just get your evil self away from me.”

Apparently, so is "and".
Another fundie rewriting the US Constitution to support his own warped views.
And, yet more evidence of why you'll never see me set foot in Alabama.
Odd that he would go so far as to acknowledge separation, and then hinge his denial on a vague prepositional substitution. What, does he think that Church and State, happily married, should both separate themselves from all humankind?
Actually, that doesn't sound so bad.
Amazing. I was prepared to give this guy the benefit of the doubt--that maybe he was just courting the fundie vote in his area.
Not wanting to pray = evil = go away? This is bigotry at its worst. I expect *much* more from an elected public official.
Separation of church and/from state? This guy is playing word games with the constitution. He's an incompetent halfwit and he needs to be out of office ASAP.
Yeah, the concept of "and" is really, really difficult to grasp.
But I find such casual use of the word "evil" by a public official (to refer to his own constituents!) truly disturbing.
I'm from a rural area of wacko Utah and even here I've never been called "evil."
it never said anything about a separation of church from state
No, it forbids the government to "establish religion". The term "establish religion" means to give credence, endorsement or preference to religion. Langford is free to avoid people who don't want to pray. The government is not.
Cool, so as long as I separate you and your teeth, but don't separate you from your teeth, you're alright with that are you Jerry?
So it's illegal to take the life of another person...
But it doesn't say anything about taking life FROM another person!
Mister Langford, could you come here a minute...
When politicians go wild.. Hey, they should make a new reality show like this. When fundie politicos (and we can throw in the talking heads like Scarboro, O'Reilly and Limbaugh) say something so utterly stupid, they have to stand against a wall and let those of us with the ability to reason chuck dodge balls at them. I just think that would be a really cool idea.
Mayor?
What the hell happened?
Oh, it's Alabama.
Huckabee also did well in Alabama for the Republican nomination for the Presidential race.
I think you can tell which US states are the most insane by looking at the states where Huckabee won. Alabama, Georgia...
He wiped the floor with the other GOP candidates in Kansas and Arkansas - 60 in both.

Sometimes I am scared to share the world with America. I hope Barack Obama can restore some sanity, although I don't hold out much hope judging from this site....
Wherever did you get the idea that I don't want to pray? I plan to have the Government make you adore our sweet Lord Satan, Larry, and I want you to join me here in submitting yourselfs to him and his demons.
Beelzebub is so grateful to you for pointing out the flaw in that part of the constitution that was meant to stop this happening!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
