Quote# 38581

When we just saw that man, I think it was Mr. [PZ] Myers, talking about how great scientists were, I was thinking to myself the last time any of my relatives saw scientists telling them what to do they were telling them to go to the showers to get gassed.

Get off the internet. NOW.

Pie Man

I'm sure they weren't scientists.

7/29/2008 9:29:20 PM

Interesting. Argument from Holocaust.

7/29/2008 9:52:03 PM

Ben Sreins career over

7/30/2008 1:35:37 AM

Go ahead, Ben. Sink ever lower.

7/30/2008 8:27:40 PM

Career over? Godwin = very yes? That's not a good prize!

Bad Influence

So... what about my atheist grandfather who was an American soldier in WWII? He's a nuclear physicist now- he joined the army partway through college, then went back and finished it after the war was over, IIRC. He was also in one of the units that helped to liberate some of the concentration camps. Can we count him as a "great" scientist? Or at least not completely evil?

Plus, there was absolutely nothing "scientific" about the Holocaust- Hitler used "God" to justify his atrocities all the time, but "science" none, meaning that you're blatantly abusing one of the greatest tragedies in human history because you can't seem to accept the idea that reality might contradict your stupid little imaginary friend in the sky.

Get bent.

Jack Bauer

Um, I don't think it was the 'scientists' saying that, Ben, old buddy... It was the SS guards performing the initial separation as the cattle trucks were offloaded.

1/22/2009 11:03:04 PM

Because the camps were run by scientists, right.

Also, we get that you're Jewish already. Bringing up the Holocaust every thirty seconds is getting awkward. Do you start talking about Auschwich when someone cuts in line infront of you at the store?

1/22/2009 11:03:45 PM

The lie is especially blatant because he interviews scientists in the process of making his abortion of a film (and, of course, edits the footage in the most unflattering way he can...)

"Well, we hope that people who have children in schools will tell their children that if the teacher says Darwinism created everything"
If the teacher says that, then he's talking out of his arse. Evolutionary theory attempts to explain the development of life, not its origins nor anything to do with any other aspect of the universe, such as:
"What keeps the planets in their orbits?"
Gravity and angular momentum. What the hell does this have to do with evolution?

"Is there any proof of a separate species ever being seen to evolve?"
The word is *evidence* (proofs are for mathematicians) and yes there is.

"(speaking about the Holocaust): …that was horrifying beyond words, and that’s where science — in my opinion, this is just an opinion — that’s where science leads you."
Your opinion happens to be ill thought-out and offensive.

1/23/2009 1:16:51 AM

a mind far far away

I'd almost have to say Godwin on this, and even though it is, I can somewhat understand his sentiment. Still, I don't think it's fair to equate nazis with valid scientists. It's like equating Obama with atheists, Muslims, communitst, socialists, and any other thing fundy xtians don't like.

1/23/2009 1:43:03 AM

Those weren't scientists, they were soldiers. I can see why Ben would be confused because he thinks Creationists can be really golly gosh scientists

1/23/2009 2:35:12 PM

If Ben keeps this shit up the only people who will use him in the future will be Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron.

1/23/2009 2:38:33 PM

Wrong! please try again....

@ Disreg
Do you start talking about Auschwich when someone cuts in line infront of you at the store?

Haha, yeah, I can see it - a guy beats Stein to the check out counter...
BS: "Oy! Hitler wasn't this mean. Go ahead, Doctor Mengele, just kill me a little bit. Attica, Attica, never again, never again! What next, you make a lamp shade out of me? Sure, you go first...*sniff sniff* GEVAAAALDT! I smell it, the Zyklon B."

9/15/2009 8:26:02 PM

Really, since when did Concentration camps use Scientists as prison guards? If I ever meet Ben I'm going to ask him that question.

But then again this was the idiot who said the subprime loans weren't anything to worry about.

So stop using anything developed by science...such as computers, the internet, television, eyeglasses and eyedrops.

Incidentally, I won't use any products that are advertised/endorced by Ben Stein because I refuse to support anyone with such a viewpoint.

5/10/2010 3:26:39 AM

Quantum Mechanic

Stop using computers.

Dr. Shrinker

Its especially strange because Stein is a former flunky of Richard Nixon easily the most anti-Semitic president of the 20th century But then, I imagine Benjy can be very tolerant of someone else when there's something in it for him.

That happens a lot among right-wingers
