"No matter what one's personal preferences are, separation of church and state by the federal government violates the First Amendment of our Bill of Rights and is both discriminatory and unconstitutional. "

That would be discriminatory as in "not making an exception for Christians", not discriminatory as in "not applying equally to all religions" would it?
You know, most people don't even know there's another meaning to that word. Including the dictionary makers, apparently.
He means the Christian church only. All others don't count. BTW, asshole, the country never HAD a state religion in the first damn place. You - and everyone else - just has the ability to practice freedom of religion. You miss the point entirely. Wanting to force your stupid religion on everyone IS discriminatory and unconstitutional.
Where's that pie chart?
separation of church and state by the federal government violates the First Amendment of our Bill of Rights
"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, [exact quote from the First Amendment]" thus building a wall of separation between Church & State."
Thomas Jefferson
Ok, abolish the separation of church and state. Enact a state religion... but which one? Baptist? Sure, but leaves all the Catholics out, as well as the methodists, episcopalians, pentacostals, Christ scientists, et al.
That very separation of church and state is what guarantees your right to worship in the way you choose. Freak.
Fundie to English.
discriminatory - Not discriminatory to those we wish to discriminate against.
unconstitutional - Unchristian.
No matter what one's personal preferences are, - Here are my personal preferences,
Yes, yes, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" is completely contrary to the First Amendment....
Technically, he has a point in that stating that the church has no place in politics, the state is passing law concerning the church. However, back in Realityland, it just don't work dat way.
Wrong, the separation of church and state is perfectly in keeping within our first amendment because our government is not an extension of any religion(like vatican city or the taliban) or religion any extension of the government(like the Elizabethan Church of England or Iran). Read the first amendment before making up crap about it, clown.
Has this fellow actually read the First Amendment?
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
I'd say that this is a fairly explicit separation of Church and State.....FAIL, you moronic twit!
It's more like "I, as a white, rich, straight, Christian man, am appalled that society is no longer quite so blatantly skewed in my favour".
Confused?
