Please provide evidence for:
(a) that I have a soul;
(b) that it is in need of salvation;
(c) that there is a divinity named Jesus;
(d) that whatever the "result," it is eternal.
Please note: said evidence must be more than "that's what it says in the Bible" as that would lead to a circular argument.
Finally, I should point out that common usage refers "fatal" diseases as ones for which there is as yet no cure.

Lots of people don't believe in your invisible doctor treating an invisible entity to avoid an invisible result, so they go to a real doctor for real cures. Go figure.

You know, they say snake oil can cure just about anyhting...
6/1/2008 11:42:45 AM
Hahaha! People are dying of awful diseases, but because I am fundie, Jeebus protects me and I need not worry about anything! Including that huge malignant tumour on my back!
6/1/2008 12:00:11 PM
You're assuming that all nonbelievers believe that they are suffering from the "fatal disease of an unsaved soul" but refuse to do anything about it.
If someone came up to me on the street and told me I had an incurable cancer I'd tell them to bug off, too.

So, Health care is a fraud?
6/1/2008 12:24:25 PM
You mean like how Christians don't want to get their bad karma fixed? Or how they don't care if their chakras are out of synch?
You tend to not care about the state of parts of your body you don't believe in.
6/1/2008 12:25:32 PM
So, I guess you'll be skipping your visit to the hospital when you have contracted a fatal disease ??
What would be the point in getting healed as you seem to be certain you have a 'admit one' ticket to heaven.
No ? .... I thought so, you, Sir, are a hypocrit!
What's worse is, is that a lot of those fundies who refuse to donate organs that can cure people, are the first in line to receive one if they need it.

But the fatal disease of an "unsaved soul" people will avoid Dr. Jesus Christ like the plague
Funny he should mention the Plague. In the middle ages, some people crawled to the church on their hands and knees daily to beg Jesus to spare them from the Plague. It killed a third of the human population of Europe anyway. Today we can cure it with a few dollars worth of streptomycin. So obviously God had nothing to do with it one way or the other, unless maybe it was to light the spark of genius in the people who came up with the concept of antibiotics.

Where did Jesus get his doctorate from? Fundy homeschool university? I'd rather trust someone with a decent and provable existence and doctorate.
6/1/2008 1:53:59 PM
lol... Dr. Jesus Christ? Is he anything like Dr. Mario?
I'd go with House, myself.
6/1/2008 2:37:12 PM
House could kick 'Dr. Jesus Christ's arse.
6/1/2008 2:43:38 PM
Dr. Jesus Christ?
I could make a Doctor Who joke, but I won't.

Jezebel's Evil Sister
Christianity - Selling the cure for an imaginary disease for nearly 2000 years!
6/1/2008 3:55:39 PM
"But the fatal disease of an "unsaved soul" people will avoid Dr. Jesus Christ"
Fictional diseases don't require a cure.
6/1/2008 3:56:16 PM
Perhaps it's the fear of spending eternity with assholes like you that drives some people to try anything to avoid that sort of...hell.
6/1/2008 3:58:51 PM
Because 'Dr.' Jesus Christ got his degree from an unaccredited university.
6/1/2008 4:10:33 PM
I agree with House kicking Dr. Jesus Christ's ass.
6/1/2008 4:43:16 PM
In cannot speak for others,
but if everything written in the old testament about the behavior of god is true, then the god of the bible would definitely not the divine entity I could support.
Too many of the stories written therein let me conclude that YHWH seems to be a person of rather loose moral values who doesn´t really stand for justice or love (i.e. love for al humans and not just a few favorites and himself) and therefore for moral reasons I would have to resist such a god, even if it might bring eternal punishment in a fiery place upon me.

South Park reference
What was the worst torture that Satan could come up with for Sadam? Sending him to heaven, that's sort of how I feel when I hear these people.

Also isn't it amazing when it comes to ones health and they come down with a fatal disease they will do whatever it takes to get cured! But the fatal disease of an "unsaved soul" people will avoid Dr. Jesus Christ like the plague go figure that one given the end result is eternal!
It's not amazing at all. The strongest Human instint is our survival instinct. Let's alter this first sentence to better illuminate how ridiculous your premise is: "Also isn't it amazing when it comes to ones life and they're being attacked by a knife-wielding madman they will do whatever it takes to get away from him!"
6/1/2008 7:08:51 PM
Your definition of "fatal disease" needs work.
6/1/2008 8:34:35 PM
If Dr. Jesus would actually show up, I'd be happy to take his prescription. Dr. Ineffective, invisible, can't be shown to even exist Jesus is not needed.
6/1/2008 9:39:16 PM
I've lucked out so far. My Unsaved Soul Disease has been in total remission for seven and a half decades.
6/1/2008 10:44:54 PM
Allegory for Jesus
That is one glorified Pascal's Wager, right there. And just as convincing.
To use his comparison, however, I must ask:
What are the symptoms of having an "unsaved soul"?
How do you know that you have one?
Where do you learn the cure?
How do you know that it is effective?
Where did this Dr. Jesus H. Christ get his PhD?
Where can you find him?
Why is it that other doctors, who seemingly have far more credentials, would not be also capable of curing this condition?
Unfortunately, your answers are "being human", "being human", "The Bible", "because I feel like I am cured", "Heaven", "Heaven/in your heart", and "complete silence/fundiebabble" respectively. None of which are very convincing. So, I think I will continue to worry about real illnesses for now, M' Kay?
