Quote# 40260

I too am at peace. This is a very scary and exciting time we live in. We are blessed to be able to see God's word unfold on a daily basis in regards to the end times.

With all the political upheaval, wars, famines, weird natural disasters, it is so good to know why these things are happening and to know that we are loved and ultimately protected from anything that happens here on earth. I could die in an earthquake or car wreck tomorrow but I know exactly who will have their arms out waiting for me. I don't know how folks who don't have this assurance can even function.

How do I function? Simple, I try to make the world better.

"I believe the horrors of today's world are all the work of a horrific bronze age terrorist god who puts Hitler and ibn Ladin to shame, and I don't see how others can even function."

Eh.

I just don't understand how these people think this era is any worse than past eras. Surely the thirties were far more "end timey" than now???? Floods (millions dead) and war in China, Italian and Japanese aggression, the rise of Hitler, the Great Depression etc. etc. Read a history book fundie!

"political upheaval, wars, famines, weird natural disasters, it is so good to know why these things are happening"

This makes it the archtypical 5. But only for the lack of a 10

I can only wonder what these idiots would be like if they had lived through the two world wars.

These guys are a death cult.

I'd worry more about you seem to think that anticipation of Heaven is the only thing that lets YOU function. Not all are as fearful of death as you...

Antichrist

Well I function quite well by not wishing for death from when I rise in the morning to when I retire in the evening. I don't spend my day staring at faux news gleefully watching people suffer.

"I too am at peace. This is a very scary and exciting time we live in."

You realize these two statements are contradictory, don't you?

"We are blessed to be able to see God's word unfold on a daily basis in regards to the end times."

Yeah, right. It's been the "End Times" for 2,000 years.

"With all the political upheaval, wars, famines, weird natural disasters, it is so good to know why these things are happening and to know that we are loved and ultimately protected from anything that happens here on earth."

Right. Of course you're protected. Must be nice to be convinced that your god thinks so highly of you as to disallow anything bad to happen to you. Delusional, but nice.

"I could die in an earthquake or car wreck tomorrow but I know exactly who will have their arms out waiting for me."

The coroner?

"I don't know how folks who don't have this assurance can even function."

You have no assurance. You have stories, fables and empty promises made by men in the name of a god they can't show even exists.

It's actually quite easy. We simply live our life and make the best of it without obsessing over what comes afterwards.

Trust me, it is not hard at all and in many ways it makes life more enjoyable, easier to deal with, and less stressful.

Look on the bright side, we haven't gotten to this yet:

We function because, unlike you, we realize that natural disasters have been happening like this since the dawn of time, and nutbags like you have always claimed they were signs of the apocalypse. Anyone who says that they find events where thousands have died, and many more suffered, 'comforting' needs the taste slapped outta their mouth.

"I don't know how folks who don't have this assurance can even function."
I don't know how folks who don't have a drink at 7:30am can even function. But whatever works for you.

I doubt you have experienced much in the way of real political upheaval, real terrors of war or actual hunger from famine.

Please explain what a "weird" natural disaster would be and then give examples of where such "weird" natural disasters have happened recently.

As an atheist I function quite well knowing that I live this life and then I die. You know, die... the end, gone, done, nothing more. I don't require a pleasant fantasy to make it through my day.

I don't know how folks who don't have this assurance can even function.

By actually setting out to enjoy life and avoid death, rather than discounting life and hoping for death. I can assure you that I am at least as horrified at your blissfully rushing to meet your own nonexistence as you are at my rejection of your ludicrous, unproven notions of a heavenly existence after death.

No, no, Mike, this is how you say it:

I don't know how folks as stupid as you can even make a computer function, so we're even.

Dying in some disaster is not exactly what I call "protected".

And being excited about it too? Yep, death cult.

because we know that the events you're describing have been going on for all of recorded history and probably longer.
