Wouldn’t be nice to know if just one of those coins planted a seed that will grow to a muslim finding faith in Jesus. On the other hand, the angered residents who rejected the seed will have an eternity in hell to think about the missed opportunity.
BAGHDAD - The U.S. military confirmed May 29 that a Marine in Fallujah passed out coins with Gospel verses on them to Sunni Muslims, a military spokesman in the Iraqi city said. The man was immediately removed from duty and reassigned.
The coins angered residents who said they felt that the American troops, whom they consider occupiers, were also acting as Christian missionaries in a predominantly Muslim nation.

And we wonder "why they hate us". What can you expect when you disrupt an entire society?
Looks like somebody decided to bring the crusades into the modern day.

And what of the soldiers who could be killed in retaliation for this stupid act, What of them?
Yeah, if someone gave me a thing I didn't freaking want while he was in my country from a foreign nation I couldn't even trust, I could totally see believing it.
Those coins are only worsening the USA's reputation.
Yes, and the citizens of Iraq have so much trust and respect for the American's there that they will take anything from them with thanks.
Do you know that you and people like you are a big part of the reason we, as a nation, are hated so much? You shove your christianity down everyone's throats whether they want it or not; you don't give a shit about respect or the beliefs of others.
How 'bout we put some coins with Muslim bible verses on them all over your neighborhood. Fair is fair, afterall.
Several points:
1. A coin with some vauge religious mumbo-jumbo on the back isn't going to convert a single goddamn person. Anyone who thinks so is deluded.
2. There are enough problems over there without SOLDIERS basically telling the residents that their religion is "wrong".
3. Someone pushing religion on people looks like a douchebag. Always.

That's what I hate about Christianity. You get one chance, and if you fail, it's Hell for eternity, metaphorical "oh, it's just absence from God"-Hell or not. If Jesus and God so want to forgive us, why not just do so? If terrorists, murderers and child molesters go to Heaven if only they worship God, then why not just let everyone in?
"I'm sorry, but that's how it works. There are billions of views on the universe out there, some organized, some not, and to go to Heaven you had to miracolously pick the right one. Sorry, you didn't. Off to Hell you go. No return ticket."
ARE YOU EVEN REMOTELY AWARE OF THE CURRENT STANDING OF THE U.S. REPUTATION WISE IN THE EYES OF THE REST OF THE WORLD?!
LET ME TELL YOU, IT'S NOT GOOD!!!

the American troops, whom they consider occupiers,
Consider? How can they be anything else?
By the way, which fucker is making and supplying those goddamn coins? They aren't exactly something any old moron can reel off on a photocopier, like Chick tracts.
"oh, sorry about killing your family and friends and stealing your oil, have a nice coin and some of our nice home-baked religion (which incidentally forbids killing and stealing) in return"
I'd start a jihad on them myself just for the sheer fucking hypocrisy, if I wasn't so lazy.
This is only going to further the idea of this war being a 'holy' one to all the wrong people, and anyone who doesn't see that simply isn't paying attention.
The man should have been dishonorably discharged for a serious, dangerous, and far-reaching violation of US Army protocol.

...Iraqis used said American 'Jesus' coins in the Coca-Cola machines. At least then, these 'coins' served a practical purpose. >:D
