Oh gee, that or your average American voter is retarded beyond reasonable doubt! Most civilised countries have managed a female head of state on at least one occasion.

Most women (if not all) running for head of the state job are over 50. I don't think that Segolene Royal, who's currently the presidential candidate in France needs to worry about her periods.

No, it's that misogynistic attitude and social inertia that have kept the U.S. from letting many women get into positions of power, and none into our highest political office. But we've made progress; give us another couple of generations, and I'll bet we will see a few female presidents.

On New Zealand:
Up until last year ALL the top political positions in the country were held by Women
The Soveregin- Queen Elizabeth II,
The Prime Minister- Helen Clark,
The Govenor General- Dame Sylvia Cartwright,
and our head judge were ALL female.
And for a country of 4 million people we're doing pretty well.

As a woman, I act irrational and moody for maybe a day or two each month. There are men out there whose excessive testosterone causes them to act irrational 24/7. Just wanted to point that out.

Maybe not a president, but New Zealand has had a female prime Minister for the last 8 years.

If you think womens' mood swings and periods are bad enough to effect their running a country, you're the one who needs to be held down. And haave your head checked.

Margeret Thatcher would like to have a word with you.
Granted she was a prime minister but she pretty much ran the country.
Did you forget about menopause? most woman running for a position of power in the country are probably over 50.

Boudicca, two Queen Elizabeths, Queen Victoria and Margaret Thatcher would like a word. That's five female leaders without even going outside my own country. There have been plenty in other parts of the world.
