Carter tells London paper Israel possesses 150 nuclear weapons
Carter should be tried for treason, and for interfering in US foreign policy. He is probably not anywhere near current on what Israel has, but he should keep his mouth shut.

What an idiot. How does rattling off facts (and yes, people already know that Israel has nuclear weapons) equate to treason? And of course, I just love the fact that U.S. foreign policy is dominated by Israel. You keep your mouth shut, sherrimae.
Bush should be tried for treason for publishing the name of an undercover CIA agent.
P.S. Carter is not a citizen of Israel, so how can he be charged with treason for revealing it's secrets?
Treason? Explain, please.
Is it treason when a humanitarian and a diplomat speaks about what they witness? Or, it is only treason when they speak about the sacred Israel?
Do you know something different? Have you been to Israel? Have you spoken with members of their government and ascertained that Carter is lying or making things up? Nah, I didn't think so.
Have any of you here at FSTDT read that thread? It's a cesspool of stupidity and ignorance; I know, not unlike every other thread, but really...these people are daft.
Read your damn Bible hypocrite! "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God."- Matthew 5:9. Carter negotiated a peace between an Arab state and Israel that has lasted 30 years, Jesus would be proud. What the fuck have you and your fundie war-profiteer President done besides kill off Arabs and Americans for profits for the bigtime GOP contributors, lick the ass of the Arab state whose citizens attacked us on 9/11, and wreck a solid economy with rich people giveaways?

Revelation 11:1 describes the Temple of Jerusalem as being a thing in actual existence and use at the time of the Tribulation.
However, the actual Temple of Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 A.D. and has not been rebuilt since. As a prerequisite for Revelation 11:1 to be fulfilled, the Temple would have to be rebuilt on its original site and put into use.
Anybody could build a new Temple on the site of the old one, but in order for it to actually be USED, such a structure would have to be built by, and for, the Jewish population.
Fundies are buddy-buddy with Israel because they need 'em to rebuild the Temple, in order for their end-of-the-world prophecies to come true.
Treason? Carter is American, no Israeli, the paper was in London, Israel isn't supposed to have nukes, and freedom of speech DOES actually apply to people other than you, dipshit.
> he should keep his mouth shut.
So should you, until you have some concept of what actually constitutes treason.
You know, about fundies having a hard-on for Israel . . . a small, but significant amount of Jews hold that only the Messiah can establish the Kingdom of Israel, and that the current state of Israel is an idolatrous fake.
So unless David Ben-Gurion was actually the Messiah in disguise, I don't think this could be called the "real" Israel by certain Jews.
@ tracer :
Righto. There is, however, a tiny rub. You see, the third most sacred site in Islam, the al-Aqsa mosque, was built several centuries ago exactly where the Jerusalem temple used to stand.
Guess what would happen if this mosque was demolished to rebuild the temple...
So speaking out against Isreal is a treasonable offense in the US?
Wow, guess I should watch what I say about Liechtenstein.

Why, the end of the world, of course. Exactly what the Bible says. Of course, I somehow doubt there would be much in the way of Jesus or God or anything. Just a lot of things blowing up.
So...pointing out that Israel isn't the bastion of purity and light is treason? It's not even speaking out against your government. Hell, it's not even speaking out...it's stating statistics! I shudder to think what would happen if a hardcore fundie ever got into office...what kinds of things would suddenly become treasonous.
[EDIT] Holy wow...reading that thread...they aren't daft...they're whipped into a complete, bloodthirsty frenzy. They will not be content until Carter's drawn and quartered...and they call HIM a bad person in the process!
Treason does not work that way!
Yeah, the meme's getting old, but I still like it, and it fits this quote perfectly.
I'm pro-Israel, and I think that Carter should keep his mouth shut. However, not because he revealed Israel's "secret" (even I knew they had nukes), but because he's an anti-semetic idiot.
But then again, if he really wants to, he can keep being anti-Israel.

It's not quite accurate to say that Revelation says anything about the tribulation -- Revelation is in the very popular (at the time it was written) tradition of cloaking commentary on the current political climate in poetic and apocalyptic language. The "Tribulation" is nineteenth-century theology.
Of course, Revelation does talk at great length about the "tribulations" of the early Christian community under Nero (a.k.a. "The Beast")...
Intresting, in that Israel has apparently lost some 50-90 Nukes, as most estimates of Israeli Nuclear capacity, has them possessing some 200-240 Nuclear weapons, in the form of free fall bombs, warheads for Jericho 3 IRBM's(Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles) & modified Harpoon SSM's (Surface to Surface Missiles) originally supplied by the U.S...
In this case, given the above, is it any wonder that Iraq & possibly Iran, were/are considering Nuclear Weapon programmes to act as a deterrent...?
(Note: Both Iraq & Iran are NPT (Non Profileration Treaty) signatories, Israel isn't).
Confused?
