Quote# 40899

Perhaps the link is more simple.....academics hate their jobs, they are geeks to they hate their social life, and this self-loathing creates their doubting of God?

Intelligence is what makes me KNOW there is no god.

6/13/2008 8:21:06 PM

Since when did academics hate their jobs?

6/13/2008 8:21:58 PM

How do you explain all the fundies without any sense of self worth, then?

6/13/2008 8:26:44 PM

Since when i didn't like my job?

6/13/2008 8:27:33 PM

[Faulty assumption #1], [Faulty assumption #2], [Faulty assumption #3]

Strike THREE!!! You'rrrrrrre OUT!

arrogant, somewhat. eh?

Tomby Stone

Yeah, I'll bet Einstein WISHED he could've been a bricklayer from Buttfuck Arizona with the social life of a middle American Christian mother of 12.

6/13/2008 8:40:45 PM

Oh, the fail.

This is why you clearly aren't an academic.

6/13/2008 8:42:34 PM

I'm a happy geek. Where's your argument?

6/13/2008 8:46:25 PM

Why would self-loathing create doubts about God? Usually, the worse someone thinks his life is, the more likely he is to want to believe he's going to get his turn in the afterlife to laugh at all the cool, successful people who laughed at him in this one.

6/13/2008 8:49:15 PM

Boy, that's quite a broad brush he's painting with.

6/13/2008 8:50:32 PM

No it's definitely the intelligence.

6/13/2008 8:58:50 PM

God hates book-learnin'!

6/13/2008 9:03:01 PM

Wrong on all counts.

6/13/2008 9:04:54 PM

Yet another study that points to the link between a higher intelligence and education, and lack of religious beliefs.
Truly, I'm shocked.</snark>

6/13/2008 9:05:49 PM

Isn't pride one of the sins you're not supposed to do?

6/13/2008 9:22:48 PM

Uh, what? I'm not sure I get any connection here other than "education is bad". We know that is a fundie mindset, but this takes the cake.

6/13/2008 10:15:45 PM

I'm an Oxford student, so I talk to career academics all the time on a one-to-one basis.

Trust me, they love their jobs for the most part (the ones that teach aren't too fond of marking, but otherwise). You have to to put up with being paid less than your skills are worth.

EDIT: I'm friends with many physicists (of which I'm one), chemists, mathematicians and computer scientists. I'm willing to bet they all have better social lives than you.

6/13/2008 10:15:45 PM

At least these "geeks" you speak about would have far better grammar than yours. Besides, I love brainy, "geeky" guys. All that intelligence makes them sexy to me.

Dumb guys... well, not so much. In fact, not at all.

6/13/2008 10:23:06 PM

Doctor Whom

The geeks loathe themselves so much that they refuse to admit that they are worthless sinners deserving eternal damnation.

6/13/2008 10:37:09 PM

Yes, I'm sure Database Admins making $100,000+ a year must really hate their life and have difficulty making friends. moron.

6/13/2008 10:47:44 PM

You Christians know all about self-loathing, don'tcha?

EDIT: Dammit, Doctor Whom beat me to it.

6/13/2008 10:53:32 PM

Life's just better when you're an ignorant Fundie WalMart greeter.

6/13/2008 10:54:36 PM

Old Viking

The article is why Michael hates reality. It sometimes stings.

6/13/2008 11:01:12 PM

Obviously the academics are smarter than Michael.
