And Christians even have gawd to hold them back!!! Funny how I never hear of atheists torturing anyone for not believing in atheism! Oh, Communist countries don't actually count, I'm talking about the US...where Christians have done all those things to people they thought were unbelievers!!!
Moral values? I dont think: incest, mass genocide, and rape are moral values, yet the bible God condones all of the above and then some. Oh and im a Pagan, im just tired of atheists getting bashed by christians.
On my part it's a mixture of apathy and the trouble I'd have getting the blood stains out of my clothes if I dismembered you.

I'm an atheist. Don't be fooled by my appearance as a middle-aged woman who does her job, pays her taxes, abides by the law, gives to charity and is generally a pretty nice person. Fear me!
What's to stop me? My superior sense of morality. Unlike many religious people, I don't feel it is okay to harm, kill, or dismember just because someone thinks differently than me or because I get a delusion that 'god' told me to. Hell, I probably couldn't even bear to kill a person in self defense, which is consequently a lot more Christ like.

Be careful if you tell a christian that you don´t believe in god. Acording to the old testament then he has to stone you.
And it would also not be wise to live in a city where there is someone not believing in YHWH and trying to convert other inhabitants to his faith. The old testament demands that in this case the whole population of the city has to be killed.
And as a married girl maybe you should also be careful that you don´t get raped in a city, as then you will be stoned, together with your rapist.

Quite simple, I have empathy for my fellow humans. I don't want to see others harmed, killed, dismembered, etc. I'm not evil and I don't need a 2,000 year old book written by Bronze Age, superstitious shepherders to tell me not to do bad things.
Since atheists don't believe in God, presumably they don't believe moral values come from God, either. So has it occurred to you they might have a different view of the whole thing than you do, and might even have the same moral values from a different source? Try asking one.
I'm sort of non-conventionally religious ("agnostic" doesn't really cut it-- I believe in a higher power, it just doesn't fit into any of the handy boxes), and I seem to have come up with my *own* moral values. Go figure.

What Omega is actually saying is that he/she has no innate sense of morality, and needs the constant threat of hell in order to behave in an acceptable manner.

Denying you your rights to marriage, education, and equal status (if you are gay).
They think they have all the moral values, based on a collection of tales about a fictional sky fairy, which they will use to oppress others to maintain their power. They do not recognize fairness, diversity, equality or reason.

The way I see it, theists have the capacity to be much less moral than most atheists are. Of course, most theists are good as are most atheists, but we don't have a god who will be there to forgive us. We can't escape our consequences.

It comes from an evolutionary process, knowing that the survival of the society in which we live gives to our own survival.. stealing "Bubbah's" car means that "Bubbah" can come back and steal our car.. and vice versa.

Perhaps it's our cognizance of real-life consequences, which always trump the make-believe "loving and merciful" sky-asshole.
I am infinitely more moral than the Christian god. So far, I have not gone on any killing sprees. I give people a second chance when they do something wrong. I don't require anyone to stroke my ego by worshiping me. If belief in me is so important, I would make my existence known. That is something that god can't do and I can. I can prove that I exist.
I can only speak for myself, but I don't do those things because I'm not a sociopath.
And, ONCE AGAIN, morals don't come from the Bible. If they did, people wouldn't be able to cherry-pick from the bible because they'd have no concept of what is or is not reprehensible in their own eyes. They wouldn't know what to take or leave.
My word, this is getting boring!
I have compassion and empathy that stops me from doing those things to others, as I would not want anyone to do that to me.
