Quote# 41185

[On whether Christians should support gay marriage]

You folks here never cease to amaze me with how much you twist, distort and generally diss the Scriptures, regardless of how much you have fooled yourselves into thinking otherwise.

Know I know what Jesus meant about "the blind leading the blind."

More proof of how, as I have said before, there's isn't a belief too silly, too preposterous, that once it becomes du jour some "Christians" aren't going to fall over each other in a rush to find some "biblical" evidence supporting it.

Gay marriage? Yeah, right!

. . .

I'm sure Jesus looks approvingly on "loving, monoganamous, and committed" homosexual sodomy, don't you?

Ambrielle

Jesus seemed a bit of a liberal, so yeah, probably.

jezuz is a peeper now? 'Cause it sounded like you said he likes to watch two guys sodomize each other.

Isn't that last line a freudian slip, with "you" as "Jesus"?

6/19/2008 1:35:00 PM

John

Jesus didn't say anything about it one way or the other. That hate-filled misogynist Paul, who didn't like sex gay or straight, condemned it along with about 20 other things like gossiping and boasting.

Doctor Whom

Have you ever eaten meat with any blood still in it? Have you ever bought a woman gold or pearl jewelry? Have you ever sworn an oath? Have you ever refused to give a beggar money? What's your take on slavery? I've read the Bible more closely than most Christians have, and yet I've failed to notice that it all boils down to "Thou shalt not be a queer."

Mr Smith

I'm sure Jesus looks approvingly on "loving, monoganamous, and committed" homosexual sodomy, don't you?

He probably does :) Wait, was that supposed to be sarcasm? Portraying your god as a compassionate person?

You folks here never cease to amaze me with how much you twist, distort and generally diss the Scriptures, regardless of how much you have fooled yourselves into thinking otherwise.

Those scriptures say everyone is a sinner.

If everyone is a sinner, then homosexuals are sinners.

If the only way that you can go to heaven is by accepting Jesus, then anyone can do it. You could be homosexual, a murderer, a lawyer or even a Clifford Goldstein (Bigotus Giganticus)

You've just described the entire history of the Christian church.
I'll remind you that there were those citing a Scriptural basis for slavery, for denying women the vote, for outlawing mixed-race marriages, etc.

You're starting to catch on.

...once it becomes du jour...

That's not how you use that.
Please, you english grammar is pretty bad, don't even try french.

Why do fundies think being gay equals buttsecks 24/7? I think Cliff doth protest too much.

*sigh*

We Humanists have such a long way to go before ignorance and intolerance like that expressed in this comment are finally eradicated.

"du jour?"

Were you aiming for "de jure" by any chance?

Anyone else reminded of the Rapture, there?

Yes, actually, I do.

6/19/2008 4:54:24 PM

anonymous_troy

Probably, although the Bible also allows polygamy, so Jesus probably doesn't care what you do at all.

/You folks here never cease to amaze me with how much you twist, distort and generally diss the Scriptures, regardless of how much you have fooled yourselves into thinking otherwise./

Why, hello, there, kettle! You're looking awfully black today! And "diss the Scriptures?" What are you, twelve?

/Know I know what Jesus meant about "the blind leading the blind."/

I need a new irony meter...

/More proof of how, as I have said before, there's isn't a belief too silly, too preposterous, that once it becomes du jour some "Christians" aren't going to fall over each other in a rush to find some "biblical" evidence supporting it./

Darn it, my new one exploded, I need another one.

/Gay marriage? Yeah, right!

. . .

I'm sure Jesus looks approvingly on "loving, monoganamous, and committed" homosexual sodomy, don't you?/

I'm sure He does, much more than the "loving, monogamous, and committed" heterosexual adultery and spousal abuse that you religious nutjobs are often capable of.

6/19/2008 6:00:00 PM

tmr

I am sure Jesus looks kindly on loving, monogamous, committed relationships. Period. If he looks at anything at all.

Antichrist

I'm sure Jesus looks approvingly on "loving, monoganamous, and committed" homosexual sodomy, don't you?

Actually, considering what Jesus said, he probably wouldn't care. He never said anything about homosexuality. He did say a lot about judging others though.

You're more right then you think. Although that sentence is the only thing even close to the word right in your entire post.

I have the impression that Jesus didn't spend every waking minute agonizing over the subject, as you do.

Empress of Zind

Because of that last sentence, I'm totally imagining Jesus hovering over and smiling down on a pair of men having teh buttsecks.
