I have been having a horrible time with struggling with that and sometimes my mind goes too far. I often find myself asking for forgiveness. ETA: Brain_In_A_Jar, it does say that no one who's homosexual will go to heaven, so I guess that does mean lesbians...
There's a verse in I Corinthians, I think it is, that specifically talks about women laying with women. But otherwise most of the places that I can remember from my day's as a christian specifically refer to men with men. So for the most part god doesn't seem to mind lesbians. Of course in the Old Testament, 'god' seemed more concerned with women laying with animals, or guys sleeping with their aunts than he/she/it was with banning evils like slavery or genocide.
Though, something the Christians tend to forget is that lying, stealing, cheating, etc, are 'also' listed as abominations to god not just homosexuality. You'd think that they'd pay attention but....

Lady, you are not "formerly" a lesbian. If you still feel that attraction, then guess what? You like women. It isn't a crime, and you don't need to fool yourself into thinking it is.
It kills me what this religion has done to people. If it hadn't been for the church's guilt/fear tactics, I might've figured out that I was bi a LONG time ago. What a tragedy that people have to live in such conflict between who they really are and some idiot religion's ancient mistranslated rules about who they "should" be.

News flash: Heterosexuals are attracted to the opposite gender and homosexuals are attracted to the same gender. People who honestly don't know this, based on their personal experience, and insist it is a matter choice are clearly bisexual and choose not to act on their attraction to those of the same sex--or at least don't admit to it until caught, like certain fundie ministers and right-wing politicians whom have made headlines in recent years.
Yeah. I used to be like this, back when I was a Catholic. I thought I had a disorder named bisexuality, and tried to focus instead on liking guys.
But of course, it didn't work. It was only a small part of the reasons that I left Christianity, though.

"If you have to change everything about yourself to be friends with someone then you don't need that person as a friend." Do you enjoy hanging out with people who hate you for being yourself?

Again, I wanna emphasize that this was submitted not so much to be laughed at, but because it just really, really expresses something truly...evil about RR's brand of Christianity, and the profound tragedy and human suffering that its totalitarian mentality imposes. This was important to highlight. I'm sorry it wasn't humorous, but I just think it needed to be seen. It points out not only the hypocrisy of the "homosexuality is a choice" thing, but just how horrible it is that these beliefs, these tenets masquerading as the embodiment of justice itself, repress the harmless, heartfelt yearnings of human beings.

@Beeblebrox: Quoted for truth. In a general context, that advice can also be used for girls who are trying to impress boys and boys who are trying to impress girls. And I guess it can also be used for teenage lesbians and gays, too.
