Quote# 41286

Hell is not evil; Hell is just. But that doesn't mean I delight in the thought of people going there. Hell is a function of God's justice.

Explain to me again how eternal torment is a justified punishment?

Eternal torture for not believing in something in which there is no evidence it true is hardly just.

"Hell is not evil; Hell is just."

How about "Hell is just evil."

The again, so is your vindictive prick of a god.

Hell is a function of god's justice. god is a function of demagoguery. Demagoguery is the resort of lying backstabbing beggars.

Domestic Abuse isn't evil; Domestic Abuse is just. But that doesn't mean I delight in the thought of wives being slapped around. Domestic Abuse is a function of a husbands justice.

How is it just that everybody from serial rapists and mass murderers to godless heathens gets the same punishment?

Wow, that's some justice. Punishing finite sins with infinite torture.

So, a serial killer who gets "born again" in prison goes to Heaven, while virtuous non-believers are eternally tortured? Explain to me how that is just.

Heaven = Eternal existence kissing God's ass whilst being in a constant 'blissful' state (read, mindless)
Hell = Eternal Flaming with lots of sharp pointy things

...

Holy shit, I'm having a hard time choosing between the two.

If Hell is just, then nothing is unjust.

Explain to me why an all-loving God "had" to create Hell again?

How is eternal torture for even a moment of sin just?

Especially as there are only 144,000 thrones for the justified in the blood of the lamb in heaven - as the Bible says. Read Revelation again!

Gee, what a great way to sell that "loving heavenly father" there, Nick.

So...explain to me anything...ANYTHING we can do on this planet that is so horrific that justifies being tortured until the end of time, without any chance to redeem yourself. Let alone how not believing in an entity that has never appeared in any provable fashion in any serious recorded history ranks in there at all.

Yeah a Buddhist monk who spends his life working to help orphans and bring peace to the world deserves hell because he didn't kiss the right ass.

That's justice all right.

So let me get this straight. God made hell for sinners to go to. But hell is run by Satan, who doesn't get on with God. So Satan tortures the bad people who go to hell and he's really doing that for God, who he doesn't get on with. Surely it would make more sense for Satan to maybe lay on a buffet for the sinners and bad people, get them on side for the battle of Armageddon. "Hi. Welcome to hell, I'm Satan, the manager here. We've laid on a buffet, please make yourself at home. I'd leave the salmon sandwiches if I were you, I asked the catering company not to do them cos it's so warm in here, but I guess they didn't listen. Everything else should be ok, the chicken pakora looks really nice, so you'll have to be quick if you want some of that. Enjoy your stay, and if there's anything you need, one of our demons will be only too happy to help."

Wouldn't it be hard to look forward to an eternity with people who think hell is just?

Yes, but those thrones aren't the ONLY places available for the heaven-bound. Remember, the 144,000 were all male virgins, too.

Cool, so you won't bitch when you find yourself and 98% of the rest of the fundies hanging out down there with the sinners? Good then.

This reminds me of a joke that was similar:
Jon has died and finds himself before the gates of hell. Reluctantly he goes through and, to his surprise, stands at a beautiful beach landscape, with lots of beautiful people who are having a good time.
After a while Satans comes along to greet Jon:
"Hi Jon, welcome to hell, I hope you enjoy your visit in hell. Maybe you should take some time and familiarize yourself with the surroundings. But be back in the evening, as then we´re having a nice beach party with limbo dance"

So Jon does what Satan recommended and wanders along the beach. After a long walk, he comes to a desolate region with a cave out of which he can hear screams of pain and terror. Curious he enters the cave and sees flames and demons who are torturing human souls.
Startled he immediately returns to Satan and asks him about it.
Satan answers:
"Well, that´s a bit embarassing, maybe I should have told you beforehand about it. These souls in the cave are christians. They want it that way"

:D

Hell is a function of God's justice, eh? That's a really poor justice system for an omnipotent god, now isn't it? I mean, an eye for an eye on the mortal plane is obviously a cruel enough of a rule. But, having your just God removing an infinite number of eyes for a single one taken...I don't think I need to tell you what is wrong with that...
