Quote# 41309

GLADSTONE, Ore. — Authorities say a teenager from a faith-healing family died from an illness that could have been easily treated, just a few months after a toddler cousin of his died in a case that has led to criminal charges.

(Continues...)

If the condition had been dealt with earlier, a urologist could easily have removed the blockage and avoided the kidney damage that came with the repeated illnesses, Nelson said.

Benton said a board member of the Followers of Christ church contacted the authorities after Beagley died at his family's home. The teen had been sick about a week, and church members and his family had gathered to pray Sunday when his condition worsened, Benton said.

Very reason I left the JWs. Kid died because the family thought a blood transfusion would be against God's will. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Doesn't count as a Darwin Award because some of their children survive to adulthood. You only get a Darwin Award if you manage to kill or sterilize yourself before having any children or kill off all of your children.

These guys only lose like half of their children, as long as they have 4+ kids per couple they aren't going away until a genuine plague hits them.

These lunatics don't just piss me off, they actually frighten me a little bit. What sort of maniac would rather let a child die than admit they might be wrong?

Isn't this the group that have lost something like 27% of their children to preventable disease?

No wonder God wants them to multiply, more blood for him!

It's even worse than that. Even if your beliefs are so fucking demented that you somehow kill all of your own children and then sterilise yourself, the insanity can still propagate if you indoctrinate others.

Oh well, it was god's will/he's in heaven with jeebus now/he's freed from his earthly pain. Choose whichever stupid fucking rationalization gets rid of the guilt of killing the kid.

So how many does this make it now, for this church?

Soon they'll pass heart disease as the leading cause of death.

"...church members and his family had gathered to pray Sunday when his condition worsened,..."

So prayer actually made him worse? o_O

It doesn't count as a Darwin award because it wasn't the kid's fault. The Darwin award is for people who kill or sterilize *themselves* with stupidity, not innocent bystanders, or children who don't know better.

Maybe they'll all contract the same illness, refuse medical help, and die off.

Anyone who let's TWO underage members of their family die due to this kind of neglect deserves my foot up their ass.

If these morons had been starving in the desert, they would have prayed for the stones to turn into bread; and if they had been on the pinnacle of the temple, they would have jumped off and prayed for angels to keep them from falling (Matthew 4:3-7)

This is sadder than all of you imagine. I'm a physician and see this all too often. Makes me sick. I'll admit I'm an agnostic....I definitely trust more in science than I can trust in a "god". This breaks my heart to read about. The child could have been easily treated and survived. The parents should be accused of child abuse by the "system". I'll be happy when the "system" works. Take care all.
